DISTrIbuTIoN AND AbuNDANCE
The Redn perch is native to the cool-temperate waters of the NorthernHemisphere. It was rst introduced to Tasbetween 1858 and 1862 and to Vic in 1861.The species is widely distributed throughoutthe temperate portion of the Murray-Darling Basin, but absent from the colderheadwaters and the hotter reaches of theDarling drainage. It is not present in Qld.It survives in water temperatures of upto about 31°C, which largely explainsits distribution.
