Introduction:
The kaupapa of this Ngati Rehia Vision Hui sought to promote kotahitanga throughdiscovering an over-arching hapu vision to enable individuals and groups to focus on acommon direction leading to closer sharing of information and working together.Day 1: Friday, 22 May was dedicated to presentations by the variousorganisations/groups operating within Ngati Rehia.Day 2: Saturday, 23 May allowed whanau to wananga various themes in order to tryand capture a common vision for Ngati Rehia.
Attendance:
There was moderate attendance (40 people listed) over the course of the 2-day Hui heldat Whitiora Marae on 22 & 23 May 2009.Groups that attended include:

Day 1) Friday - 22 May:
Group Presentations:
The ten groups listed above presented an overview of their respective kaupapa withparticular reference to background history; purpose; current state and prospects for thefuture.Collective korero paints a vivid picture of strong energetic movement in most of thegroups cited above. Nearly all are poised to take the next big step in driving their respective kaupapa forward.
 
Group Overview:
A few words about each Group will suffice to explain this progressive movement asfollows:
Te Tii Mangonui A2 Trust (Whitiora Marae) are functional and currently buildingits administrative capacity
Te Kōmiti Wāhine has been integrated into the Marae Management Committee
who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Marae
Hiruharama Hou Marae is in the process of appointing whanau representativesto its Marae Management Committee. These representatives are to provide for representation and participation in the running of the Marae
Hapu Whanau Kotahitanga Incorporation continue to press ahead by drafting of law designed to benefit Ngati Rehia now and in the future
Tapuaetahi Incorporation are due to settle negotiations which will seea significant increase in revenue from its leasehold operations
Te Runanga o Ngati Rehia continues to work in the area of: managed labour (Sandford Fisheries); housing; and Treaty of Waitangi Claims; AquacultureManagement Area (AMA – mussel farming etc); ‘umbrella’ organisation for theNgati Rehia water project - Technical Assistance Program (TAP)
Takou 438 Trust are currently looking at, among other things, designing asustainable housing program for Takou
Takou 439 Maori Reservation Trust are committed to a mid to long term programto upgrade the Marae at Takou
Te Tii Primary School is ‘bedding-down’ the new MOE curriculum. Thishighly responsive framework provides for a seamless transition; and progressionfor our children through pre-school; primary; secondary and tertiary institutions. The significant drop in the school roll opens up the possibility of adopting abilingual framework to better provide for tamariki need within current governmentfunding constraints
Te Waka Taitamariki o Ngati Rehia Mata-momoe is a Ngapuhi Social Servicessponsored program that looks at promoting and providing for the needs of our taitamariki here at Te Tii.This ‘Youth and Marae Kaupapa’ incorporates a tikanga based framework andcontent with local assistance, input and ove
rsight from mātua/whaea
 
Kipa Munro gave a brief on his ‘mau rākau’ programme held once a week here at
Te Tii 
Reuben Heihei touched on upcoming events to do with Mataatua Waka whereNgati Rehia may wish to participate when the time comes
Day 2) Saturday - 22 May:
Day 2 began by reviewing korero from the presentations the night before. Taua Kempexplained the whakairo of the whare hui, Te Rangatiratanga to help participants better understand past and present values of Ngati Rehia.
