dreams by thunder might think that they are still far from the morning, however, slowly it would be really time to go to work, if it would make any sense to speak about working at all. The seagulls are playing skipping-rope on the high-tension wires. The sky is sparkling and the sky is shining gloomily. /Wanyura-Kurosad, Monika/ People are rushing to the streets after the first hit. It is fog. The air is pricking because of the pieces of rubble. One can hear scared screams all over. People blinded by fear and lost in the cacophony of sounds, seemingly to the wild animals who fell into a trap, are running without stopping into the direction where they expect to find a way out from the chaos. However, the chaos is infinit. There is no way out of it. The one who will examine the hearts and the kidneys, he will realize that the distorted spots of fear penetrated themselves into them as well. The hopeless procession steps on statues in some places, the scared people are being buried beneath the ruins of the monuments. A lunatic is pouring water on the dead bodies from a watering pot so that they would not dehydrate until their last hour has arrived. Others are looking for their beloved ones on the societys dead body. A child is counting with closed eyes, he thinks that the whole city is playing hide and seek. So far, the soldiers have never felt fear or love. Now, they are weeping with loaded guns behind their masks. /Haeseker, Alexandra/ Only the animals are remembering about that the church gives us a shelter. So they are rushing in flocks into the reserve of the chapels, of the naves and of the aisles. Wild boars are running between the pews, birds are nesting in the holy water stand and the deer are barking questioningly at the altar. The saints start bleeding and praying. Their petrified eyes underpin the pillars. The cupolas fall over the pillars as umbrellas. Their burning bronze are drawing celestial forms on the sky. The pipes of the organ are shivering requiem music and the frescos of the ceiling come to life again. Zealous angels are stretching their calcareous feet, the angels are browsing more than a hundred thousand year old foxed songbooks. The giant concave lens-like ceiling collects the horror from the eyes of the animals inflaming he anxiety in its focal point then it is coughing ashes into the inflammable air. /Nagy Gbor Gyrgy/ Silence. Damaged paving, clumsy surface, melted architecture. The pathway of the main road is being marked by the boggy embankment similar to a nomadic path leading to nowhere. The fresh ruins look like as is they were washed by water in some places, while cable intestines are dangling from the abdominal section of the prefabricated houses. The colours are being absorbed, the dead bodies get dry. It is quite possible that they are being scattered in the clouds by revenging demonsPerhaps, they are. Strange ghost figures show up instead of them in the dead city. One doesnt know who could they be: reporters of the damage of end of the world or perhaps tourists of inter-astral catastrophes? No doubt, they are floating silently and absorbed in contemplation. Their shadow lies as a blanket over the devastated landscape. /Besant, Derek Michael/ Night. The street neon lighting paints the window in milk-white colour. The fax-machine is staying up all night with a tired gleam, the scanner is resting transparently, while playful djinns move on the glass plate of the copy machine that is being left open. They fold the evaporating data into colourful fairy tales. The pulls of the algorithms slows down in such cases, the electricity circulates sluggishly in the arteries of the wire and the inkjets do not scratch the paper either. The dehydrated eyes of the machines got soaked in the dark. They try to get rid of the signs burnt into their retinas. They also yearn for something, for sure. Before the new shift comes they have a dream about the pictures of the apocalypse woven from the threads of light. /Dziuba, Katarzyna/

The matrices have been important protagonists of my childhood. They appealed to me with their lively colours, exciting shapes. Each of them as a single item presented an exciting meaning in itself but while forming a group they offered a totally new narrative. This is the period of the Lutra albums and for those who have first hand experience in dealing with the issue perhaps there is no need to explain them how much more frightening could a portrait of a forward look like if the left back also showed up next to him. The really genuine collages have been realized on the door of my wardrobe where the cross motor brands, the labels belonging to various clothing or the portraits of the protagonists of cartoons have been placed among the members portraits of the already mentioned representative football team. Try to imagine yourself Kowasaki, the Teen Ninja, the Turtles, Adidas and Gary Lineker, all put together. This is a rather hitting remix. I was always happy to explain to my visitors what was the rational behind placing those matrices next to each other. The works of art of the six artists who exhibited in KAS Gallery represent a similar strong narrative to me. The images turn into a series of images then they form a story in my intellect. So I try to reconstruct their atmosphere in the form of short comments. I am awaken by an ethereal rustle. The apples of my eyes are fondled by silky light. Flexible lilac, teen sombre blue colours are floating against the background of the dull white washed walls and the solid brown colour of my shelves. My faint brain is unable to follow the tulle-circles imprinted in the atmosphere of the daybreak. Everything is weightless. Unexplainably light. An angel is dancing in the room. His soft feet are gliding a few centimetres above the mouldering parquet as if he was gliding with ice skating boots. He is wandering about each corner of the room as a dazed elf. He transforms the curtain into a funnel through magic, he makes the flowers sing and when he glances at the piano, frozen colourful teardrops start trickling from his eyes on its key. I let the meaning mix up my senses and let its light permeate me. I try to hide the curves of his movements behind my eyelids. He spins round a few more times then jumps next to the cross and starts singing from there on an unearthly voice. /HAsz gnes/ The Sun at the daybreak turns into an ebony. A thunderstorm and a chaos breaks out outside. The rain falls horizontally. The violent raindrops are leaving sharp scratches on the wall of the house. The facades get cured by the traces of the shootings and a century old horror is swirling from behind the window-frames. The pigeons crouching on the eaves are cooing full of worries, the owls which came for hunting are ululating haikus to the sky and the siren of the car alarms are wailing in the parking places. The city is whiling as if it would get to the mouth of a trashy concrete mixer. A straight lightening is splitting the sky; ill-omened fires burst into flame, and the forms gain a more precise meaning then ever before. Triangles, trapeziums are reflecting the light, and thunderbolts send light through the furs of the rodents. Those who are awakened from their

International Exhibitions Of Small Electrographic Artworks I.

Three main criteria have been taken into account while making the selection from those works of art which were submitted in two main categories /Optional and Nicholas Schffer was born 100 year ago/ to the call for proposals announced by the Hungarian Electrographic Art Association entitled Matrices 2012. Due to the overwhelming variety in the character of the proposed works of art and the interplay between the diverse genres our main goal was to offer the largest possible spectrum of them. The aspect of using in a creative way the Profta Gallerys inner space with its diverse atmospheric possibilities along with the harmonization between different forms and their visual rhyming were also taken into account while making the selection for the exhibition. The first group consisted of works which could be associated with the broadly defined geometric, architectonic and kinetic forms. The vast majority of the selected artists applied for the category entitled Nicholas Shffer was born 100 years ago. The unity within the diversity of their works was being realized by the influence of the kinetic-, spatial- and light-dynamic art, and in most cases they paid a tribute to the memory of the Hungarian born worldwide known artist. Many of the artists who applied for the Optional category have also aligned to this tradition. Bertalan Blints kinetic object, the works of va Dobos, Balzs Feledys computer graphics, the floating kinetic structures of Attila Juhsz, Jzsef Kntors prints, the poster-like paraphrases of Gyrgy Kemny, the works of art of gota Krncs which can be viewed with the help of 3D spectacles, Andrs Mengyns pictures based on laser /animated/ cartoons, the works of art of Bernadett Nagy which are very much in line with the tradition of the image architecture; all these are completed by the works of Lszl Pala Papp, Blint Szabadi Jr., Lszl Lonovics, Isabella Retkowska, and the SLUG group. Weve included in the second grouping those works which dealt with the problem of the paradoxical relationship between personal remembrance and physical objects of memory, the individual and the collective relationship to the past or the impossibility of reconstruction of the events experienced in the past. The objects attached to the visual elements of the individual or collective memory appear on the surface of the image in

their total shape or sporadically, in recognizable form or only in a form of a slight hint. The process of recalling them makes the recipient be lost in the labyrinth of associations and at the same time raising the question of the transferability of experience. Some artists reflect in their works on the attempts of transferability sentenced ab ovo to failure, on the inexperienced events and or on those events with which one could not never come to terms. In some cases even the process of creation can be captured by the viewer, while in other it is the mystery, the irrational and the unfathomable that is provoking curiosity. Some works are being characterized by absurd, grotesques, others rather by tragic tones like in the case of Edward Bateman, Bibiana Crdenas Robayo, Irena Frantal, Paula Franzini, Zsuzsanna Bki, Ren Kempen, va Mayer, Andrea Pzman, Dvid Sndor Papp, Lszl Orszg, Zsolt Koroknai, Sndor Btai, Saeko Hanji, Viktria Soltisov. We labelled our third category as letters and signs. We included here those exhibits where the starting point of the works has been constituted by a visual sign, a text or a letter taken from a previous context which, in turn, became carriers of new meanings on the prints. In other cases the repetition of signs following a certain rule or just appearing as random textures, or as false factures thus producing a new aesthetic experience or realising a new sign, a symbol or in other cases transforming into an impenetrable abstract surface. Edit Sndor, Imre Regs, gnes Pter, Lszl Orszg, Borbla Kovts, Adrienn Fleky, Enik Gbor, Pter Herendi. The variability of the proposed works of art and the polyphony of the mediums /copy machine, computer graphics, scanner/ offer the kind of snapshot of the genre of electrographic art where both artists in experimental phase in their self-expression and the ones with well established visual universe were able to display their exhibits simultaneously. The works of art proposed by the artists who applied for the optional or thematic categories do not distinguish sharply from one another, they guide the visitor across the different exhibition halls on the basis of various genres providing the freedom of choice to discover the most outstanding or the most appealing works of art for each recipient.

Its been only a couple of decades since that the graphic techniques of visual documentation has been completed by new revolutionary electronic visual techniques as well as with new creative methods. The Hungarian Electrographic Art Association is organising exhibitions on a regular basis in order to promote the reception and the spreading of this new genre of art in Hungary. The outcomes of the Hungarian electrographic art have been displayed over the course of 2008 in successive cycles giving evidence of the fact that the Hungarian artists, too have been closed up the ranks of the international front line representatives in the respective genre. The series of exhibitions of the Matrices International Electrographic Art Exhibition of Small Forms began in 2001 while the latest, the sixth one, took place in 2012. The current exhibition aims at showing the small forms of art realized with electronic means belonging to home and international artists. The Jakobinus Room of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences hosted the works of 42 Hungarian artists along with the works of art of 17 artists coming from 10 different countries. They have been either selected from the free category or from those sent to the Mikls Schffers centenary. Humanistic values presented the core idea of the exhibition where the human figure occupied a central place completed by portraits and man made and natural environments. The works of art of Endre Kovcs KEM /Comics/ and those belonging to Marina Jozina van Hees recall the world of the fantastic. rpd Daradicss works express the dichotomy between war and the civic life while light, an item of life plays a key role in the works of art of Ovidiu Petca, Lszl Lonovics, Kornl Nagy, Katalin Kdr, Jen Lvay, Lszl Cszy, Paula Franzini, Vera Dvid. We may identify the relationship between the light and the objects as the main theme in the Gyrgy Gbor Nagys works while Kinichi Maki is mainly interested in the problem of how reality is being reflected ; Anton Stolar is interested in water-life. Blint Szabadi Jr. along with Shin Kyong-Hee /South Korea/, Irena Frantal, Gyula Czimbal, Erzsbet Maczk tackle the problem of space while Tripti Singh /India/ and Chang-Soo Kim are dealing with the problem of the crowd. The works of art of the couple called Steffen Hoellein and Jesko Marx relate to the problem of journey. Human face is the main theme of Bla Repszki, Kristf zbej, Kateryna Bortsova, Evelin Bzsa, Eva Kipp, Lukasz Cywicki, Ede Halbauer, Istvn Horkay. We can observe the figure of people from a realistic perspective in many variants /Kittty Doomernik, Shahla Bahrami/ also moving towards the surrealistic /Beatrix Vgvri, Paul Ter Wal/ or towards the different levels of the abstract /Mariann

Human suffering appears in the works of art of Istvn Drozsnyik, while the concept of time, of the moment or the course of time in Gyrgy Gspr-Georgie, Sndor Btai, Enik Szllssy, Lszl Lehotka, Istvn Bogy Tth, Antal rkny. The problem of environmental pollution appears in the works of art of Golub Olena. Pter Rainers main theme is the Greek cross. The refined electronic collages of Georgeta Stoica Nagy, the remembering figures of Gza Nagy, Pter Kecsks work entitled Divination dedicated to Antal Lux, the two refined prints of Btai, the Prime Materials of Tibor. Somorjai-Kiss, the Fossilias of Jen Benedek Jr. are thought-provoking. Reality mingles with transcendental in Gbor Olhs works. Jnos Hanczik, who passed away recently, deconstructs and then re- assembles the picture thus realizing kinetic effect in space similarly to Evelin Ss. Andrea Klausz displayed photo montages. Jzsef Gbos made refined abstract style bookmarkers. The works of Tibor Vass pay a tribute to both Schffer and Mria Hegeds at the same time, while va Dobos and Mria Hegeds commemorate Schffer. Besides the narrative perspective, one can observe in the exhibition the strong presence of the sensual form of expression which does not aim at presenting the visible, the surrealistic, the imagined reality but wishes to reveal those inner, emotional and sensual contents which cannot be perceived with the eye thus contributing to the realization of newer and newer realities stemming from the inner world.

We like to emphasize that we are continuously breaking down the walls between different genres, languages, techniques and, of course, between people. Yet, presently find ourselves faced with real walls which are separating two galleries: those of Art9 and Erlin. How could these partition-walls be transcended, how could they be crossed or even made transparent? Therefore, we may rightfully wonder: are these pieces of art capable of emanating such an inner power which would contribute to the merging of the dual division into an overall picture and at the same time ignoring the partition-walls and the thick smoke produced by Tni Vsrhelyis cigarettes? Most probably you are already completely aware of the answer to this question. Yet, should somebody have the slightest doubt concerning the close interconnectedness between the exhibits I will try to expound in continue that there is no reason for it. The problem is somewhere else. I am confident that the common ground between our work does not consist in our mere assemble since the current exhibition is illustrative in terms of the tremendous experience, infallible organizational talent and high profile character with which the exhibits have been displayed this time, too by gnes HAsz, artist and president of the electrographic art. If it happened that our works have been displayed in two different exhibition halls it is not immaterial at all how do we make use of the exhibits and that of space since we should avoid the creation of the image that division between us is even bigger than those imposed by circumstances. As for myself, I would like to deal with the subject matter in its complexity which doesnt seem to work. I am going to explain it why it is so. The current exhibition is a new stage in a series of events which have started last year. As you may remember, the first stage of Matrices 2012 took place at Profta Gallery in November, while the second one at the Jacobin Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in December. As a matter of fact, currently we find ourselves in a third scene and there is a forth one in our immediate neighbourhood. The fact that such a large-scale international event has to be so dispersed touches multiple problems and raises many questions, namely why the urban exhibiting institution which otherwise would be able to accommodate an entire cycle of the Matrices do not show any interest towards the genre of electrographic art? To the best of my knowledge, so far there have been made two attempts from the part of the HEAA (Hungarian Electrographic Art Association) to apply for inner space exhibition possibility and both attempts have failed. Their request have been rejected either due to financial or other reasons, however, the end result was the same: the exhibition couldnt take place. Now, that the half decade history of the Hungarian electrographic art is being processed, one may rightfully raise the question: how comes that we still cannot speak about a breakthrough in terms of its reception? What are the sources of mistrust vis vis HEEAA while all kind of digital prints are being exhibited in the most prestigious places such as the

Kunsthalle Budapest or the Ludwig Museum? If it recognised at the level of technical-mediality why this recognition does not apply at organizational level as well? A collective exhibition would represent an entirely different aspect and would definitely constitute a bigger hit than the one which is so split up even if are aware of the fact that a greater spatial coverage has its advantage, too. Therefore, it would be high time to see the kind of international selection where the exhibits are being displayed in one single space. But prior to this, lets see where are we now for the time being. I asked gnes HAsz what are the criteria of selection in her view which could serve as a basis for setting up these two exhibitions? The Art9 gallery hosted those emblematic works of art which used in their compositions small formal elements and pixel resolutions, prints that could be fixed directly on the walls, pictures which were moved or multiplied or works displayed in space with material character, while the Erlin Gallery hosted mostly those works which were based on letter- and text motifs, using elements of signs, or, in some cases, the artificial language of cartoons. In addition to these, there are some leftovers from Shffers application which challenged the problem of light-shadow relationship. One may find examples to fusion and interconnectedness between the two selections, however the stress is primordially on the balance between the quality of the works of art. Hopefully my expertise also contributed to the overall positive image and to the fact that during the last stage of the Matrices 2012 we could experience something new, capturing, worth of remembering. I happened to be both cruel and understanding while evaluating but mostly satisfied in the face of the images reflecting the creative potentials and the visionary character of the human spirit. Previously I was mentioning about walls in my speech since we are standing between them lacking a physical space with one single entity. We display our exhibits as we can and where we can. Therefore, if the renowned institutes do not let us display our exhibits let us make use of our genuine environment, the internet and the electronic WEB. We wont find anyway a bigger shelter for us than this one. We should not consider the Matrices as a momentary event but making use of the potentials in art let us try to identify the common ground, the points of contact between us regardless of place, gender, race, religion and national belongingness.
