Getting ideas & Making a plan
What can you do to raise funds foract4life? Basically ANYTHING! But readthis first:
•
Make sure you do something thatyou really like and/or what you aregood at.
•
Always make it clear to yoursponsors or to the public why youorganize this activity (make sure youcan tell them about dance4life andwhat it does). People are then much more willing to donate.
•
The purpose of your activity can be to raise funds or to create awareness on the HIV/AIDSproblem. Doing both is even better! To come up with a good plan you need creativity. Lots of it. We will give you some tips to comeup with a plan ready for successful execution.
Getting ideas
If you want to make a good plan, it is best to just sit down with your classmates, friends withwhom you will organize the activity and do a brainstorm. A brainstorm?! It is a way to getcreativity flowing and come up with good ideas. Some tips:1.It is difficult to do a brainstorm all by yourself. Do it together with some classmates orfriends. Even better if they have different ideas.2.Make sure you have some drinks and snacks for energy.3.Don’t sit in a dark corner but in a light area. Research has shown that people that sit in awell-lit area are more creative.4.Appoint one person in the group to write down all the ideas. After the brainstorm everybodywill get a copy of the list. It might sound boring, but it is important to write everythingdown otherwise you will forget a lot of the ideas!5.Think BIG. You can always make the idea/plan smaller when you are really going to do it.6.Never say that an idea that is suggested is a bad idea. In a brainstorm, there is no suchthing as a bad idea. Be open to all ideas from the people in the brainstorm, no matter howsilly they might sound.7.Stay close to the theme. Not so much for the activity itself but make sure that you makeclear why you organize this activity. You want to raise funds but also make sure that peoplebecome aware of the seriousness of the HIV problem. Then certainly people are willing tosupport you!8.Not getting any ideas? Think again why you want to organize an activity. You want to raisefunds for HIV/AIDS projects in Vietnam. And make sure that a lot of people know about it.How can your group do that in the best way? At school? Is there a space you can use forfree? Do you know anybody that might want to sponsor you? Ask yourself all these practicalquestions.9.Let everybody finish talking. You can’t get the group quiet to listen to each other? Then leteverybody write his/her three best ideas on a piece of paper and you can discuss togetherafterwards.
Making a plan
Make sure that at the end of the brainstorm you have at least two goodideas. Appoint groups to make a work plan for both ideas and discussonce more. You can then choose organize both activities or chose the onethat gets most votes.
