To make a selection within aselection, hold down the optionkey while dragging. With theobject selected, hold down thecommand key or select themove tool and click inside theselection and drag and drop theimage onto another file.

Open an image in AdobePhotoshop that has an object toselect. From the Tool paletteselect the magnetic lasso tool,found under the lasso tool.Click once and begin draggingnear the object; the magneticlasso tool will distinguish theedges for you. To finish off theselection, place the tool over thestarting point and click. Yourselection is made.

Double-click on themagnetic lasso in thetool box to access itsoptions.• Lasso width is thedistance from thepointer at which thelasso will detect edges.• Frequency is the rateat which the lasso setsfastening points (ahigher value anchorsmore quickly).• Edge Contrast is thelasso’s sensitivity toedges (a higher valuedetects high contrastedges).
