Area Girl to Serve as Missionary
In Ballyclare, Northern Ireland
Versailles resident and 2009 graduate of Versailles High School,
Kendra Wheeler, is relocating to Ballyclare, Northern Ireland (near
Belfast) for 12 months to serve as a missionary with Youth for Christ.
During the next year she will be working in a drop-in centre where
youth can stop in after school and find a safe place. Kendra will mentor
girls, spend time with them, and show them the love that God has for
them. She recently returned from a short-term mission trip to Ireland
and it was at this time the opportunity for serving over the next year
in Northern Ireland was offered to her.
Kendra was involved with mission work in Phuket, Thailand, in
2012 for four months and has participated twice in short-term mission
trips to inner-city Washington, D.C., inner-city New York City, and
inner-city Indianapolis. She is also involved extensively with helping
victims who are trapped in human and sex trafficking. Kendra is in-
volved with SOAP (Saving Our Adolescents from Prostitution) and
has volunteered with undercover policemen in downtown Dayton, in
reaching out with help to prostitutes.
Kendra will be leaving at the beginning of September for the next
years ministry in Northern Ireland. If you would like to support her
mission work, or have any questions, contact her at
kendrawheeler7@gmail.com, 937-467-3233, or 135 W. Ward St.,
Versailles, OH 45380.
Rally Day
Planned Sept. 8
At St. Johns
Lutheran Church
Rally Day! Will there be
cars? Will there be football play-
ers? And maybe cheerleaders?
Websters Collegiate Dic-
tionary tells us:
RALLY: To rouse for ac-
tion. To recover. To recall a
purpose. To come together
again to renew an effort.
On Sunday, Sept. 8, come
together for Sunday School at
St. Johns Lutheran Church, to
renew our effort in spreading
the Good News of Jesus.
There will be a primary
class, an intermediate youth
group (new this year), a senior
youth group, a group for parents
and other young adults, and a
basement class for older
adults.
Sunday School begins at 9
a.m.
The church is located on
Bridge St. at Wall St. in Coving-
ton. Everyone is welcome!

he should go and when
he is old he will not depart

Things You Can Do With Old Newspapers
Ive been in the newspaper business since 1963. I did work one year at Deckers Meat
Processing Plant, and three and one half years at NCR in Dayton, Ohio during that same
time, but most of my life, Ive smelled ink.
I recently ran across a website named essortment.com. They had a newspaper article on
what you can do with old newspapers. Thought you might enjoy some of these ideas.
1. Painting Mask - Cut sheets of newspaper and use painter's tape to cover windows
when you paint. When you're done, simply remove the paper and discard it!
2. Inexpensive Wrapping Paper - Wrap birthday gifts with old newspaper! You can even
cut thin strips to make a bow too!
3. Quick and Easy Clean Up - Lay folded newspaper on your counter or table before you
cut up messy fruits or vegetables. Once done, just fold up and throw away!
4. Picnic Table Cloth - Tape down sheets of newspaper on your picnic table so it can col-
lect spills, drips, et cetera. Rip it up and throw it away when you're done!
5. Floor Covers - Place several folded sheets of old newspaper on the floors of your vehi-
cle. It will absorb water and help keep mud and dirt off the carpet!
6. Fruit and Vegetable Drawer Liner - Wrap green tomatoes in sheets of newspaper. Then,
layer them in a box and close the lid. Check on them every couple days, and they will
eventually ripen up to a rosy red color! Place sheets of newspaper in the fruit and veg-
etable drawer in your refrigerator. Not only will the paper catch messes from rotted pro-
duce, but it will also keep the drawer free from odors.
7. Sleep Outside Better - Place several sheets of newspaper underneath your sleeping bag
when you sleep under the stars. The newspaper will keep your bag dry, free from dirt and
grass stains, and provide a warm padding.
8. Fireplace Logs - Roll old newspapers up and tie them tightly with string. Then, use
them in your fireplace as makeshift logs. Each one burns for a while, and doing this will
save on wood.
9. Make A Funnel
Roll up a newspaper to make a paper funnel. It's best used for dry goods, but it can hold
up to water for short time.
This weeks bottom line: You probably thought the only use for old newspaper was to line
your birdcage?
I read about eight newspapers in a day. When I'm in a town with only one newspaper, I
read it eight times. - Will Rogers

Showing off the Big Stuff
At the weSt Milton liBrAry
Village of West Milton Street Supervisor Jim Wilson visited
with the children at the Milton-Union Public Library on
Thursday, Aug. 1, to talk about whats under West Milton
streets. The children had plenty of questions about the nat-
ural springs throughout the town and how they get water
to their homes. Wilson introduced them to a couple pieces
of equipment that he and his men use to take care of the
town.
