Overview of the situation of the IDPs
This is greatest humanitarian crisis faced by PakistanSources tell that there are more than 3.5 million (35 lac) people who have beenmade homeless because of the current operation in SwatAbout 20 camps have been made in different area of Punjab and NWFP for theIDPsOnly 2 lac IDPs are registered in these campsVast majority of the IDPs, are living outside of camps with host families, rentedaccommodation, schools and hujraas in the villagesHundreds of spontaneous settlements have sprung up in sites such as schools,colleges, stadiums and parks etcMost of the IDPs have arrived the camps and villages after facing a lot of. They arein urgent need of food, medical care and hygiene kitsMajority of the funds are concentrated towards the camps, still the camps lackmany basic facilitiesMain concern of the IDPs is the diseases, the growing heat and the basic needslike food, mattress etcIDPs are also worried about their possessions in the affected areasThere is no real time frame as to when this crisis will end, till then, the IDPs lookforward to our support
