Description

This work is inspired by our discussions with David Bohm in different periods in Tel-Aviv,
London, and South Carolina. We were excited by the results we obtained in the framework
of two-state vector formalism about weak measurements (Aharonov and Vaidman 1990) and
we were trying to understand these results using Bohm’s causal interpretation (Bohm 1952).
Both Bohm’s theory and the two-state vector formalism yield the same predictions for the
results of experiments as the standard quantum theory. Therefore, clearly, there cannot be
a technical contradiction between these two approaches. However, it is a legitimate question
to ask how close or how different are the concepts of the two theories. Friction between the
basic concepts might lead to a direction for the modification of quantum theory; the search
for a useful modification was the goal of David Bohm.
