To
THE
ALUMNI
OF
'fHEUNIVERSITY
OF
MINNESOTA:
Homecoming
Day
has
become
tradi
tional
at
all American universities.
Uponthis
occasiqn,
parents,
alumni,
and
friends visit
the
University.A football
game
is
playedwith
some
natural
rival.
The
sororities
and
fraternities decorate
their
residences;
the
University
decor
ates
its buildings. All in all, Homecoming
is
a
day
of pleasure, of rejoicing, ofrenewing friendships
and
loyalties.Some, as a
matter
of fact,
most
of
this
pleasure is personal;
it
arises
out
ofseeing
others-one's
acquaintances,
associates,
friends;-but
it
is
not
all personal,
at
least we
think
ashareof
the
pleasure arises
out
of
loyalty to
the
University:
its
work,
itsstandards,its
ideals.We greet
and
welcome
the
homecom-'ersbecause we believe
that
the
spiritof
the day
isameans ofexpressing
interest
in
and
fellowship for
the
University.Cordially yours,
~~
DIRECTOR McCORMICKPRESIDENT COFFMAN
To
THE
ALUMNI
OF
THE
UNIVERSITY OF
:lVIINNESOTA:
Homecoming always seems
to
be
best
when Michigan
is
Minnesota's opponent
in
the
football
game
that
is
the
big
event
of
the
day.
That
is going
to
be
the
situation this
year.
We alreadyknow
that
a
tremendous
crowd of old
grads
is going
to be on
the
campus,
and
as
the
representative
of
the
Department
of
Physical
Education and
Athletics Iwish
to
welcome
them and
hope
that
they
will
have
the
finest
kind
of a
day
in
every
respect.
The
team
is going
to
do
what
it
can
out
there
to back up my
statements.
From
Bernie Bierman,
Pug
Lund,
and
Butch
Larson right
down
through thesquad
they
are
out
to make
theday
memorable for
Minne
sota.
May
it
also
be
memorable foryou.
Most
sincerely,
