Ihave spent almost the entirety of this month preparing for my departure to Togo. In between working, vacation bible school,and saying goodbye, I have been in a packing frenzy! :) Godhas truly blessed me in thesepreparations and I am so ex-cited to begin my service on August 7th. In June, I attendedLCMS World Mission Orienta-tion at Concordia University inSt. Paul, MN with 42 otherlong-term and career mission-aries beginning their servicethis year. This training was anaffirmation and encouragementof God’s call for me to serve inTogo. Togo, officially known asthe Togolese Republic, is lo-cated between Ghana and Benin while settled beneath BurkinaFaso on the Atlantic Coast of French-speaking West Africa.Togo became independent fromFrance in 1964 and LCMS World Mission began work there in 1980. The LutheranChurches in Africa are in needof well-trained leaders and pas-tors. Togo is home of the Lu-theran Center for TheologicalStudies (CLET) which servesthe need of the church in Togo,Ivory Coast, Guinea, Benin,Burkina Faso, Congo, and theDemocratic Republic of theCongo.
