Praise Night
On April 4th, a small group of Nazarene’s youth and a few parentswent on a bus trip to KutztownUniversity, where Alexandra Ingramis now a junior. The purpose of thetrip was three fold: to stimulatethoughts of planning for college andthoughts of what role God plays inthose plans; to educate studentsabout the college process and thatyoung people do continue to servethe Lord on campus; and to motivatethe youth to start acting now.Alexandra and Dana, her roommate, gave us a tour of the campus. Thisincluded eating in the cafeteria, visiting their dorm and getting a feelfor college life. We also hung out inone of the activity buildings and dida Q&A on preparing for college. The highlight of the day was thepraise night program that wassponsored by the Kutztown GospelChoir. Choirs and dance groupsfrom colleges and churches in thePhiladelphia area participated. There was even a group that didsigning as a form of worship. Theevening featured Christian recordingartist Prayz1 and his band (last year it was Twyse). The entire evening was very exciting. There was no doubt that Jesus was inthe house! From the openingremarks by the worship leader, whowas continually encouragingeveryone to think about how goodthe Lord is, to the choirs singing their hearts out, to the auditorium beingfilled with young people worshippingthe Lord - the atmosphere waselectric! Prayz1 and his band werethe icing on the cake with their spirit.

Praise Night (continued)
Their music ministered to the youngpeople as they shared the gospel andtalked about the goodness of Jesus. They were transparent with their lovefor Jesus. They sung their hearts out, encouraging and motivating theyoung people to live godly, obedientlives for the Lord. It was truly aworship experience! Our young people were excited. They all enjoyed the trip and learneda lot. Jasmine liked it because shefelt connected in seeing so manyother people her age praising God intheir own way. It made her not feelashamed to worship the Lord. Jasonwas surprised at how spiritual theconcert was. Lakita loved the wholetrip, especially praise night. Shethought it was so exciting and shereally enjoyed Prayz1. She boughttheir CD and listens to it regularly. The trip was truly a success. We allwere blessed. Thanks go out to KentCooke for arranging the bus and tothe Nazarene CommunityDevelopment Corporation for payingfor our lunch. It was a wonderfulday! Plans are being made for nextyear and hopefully this time we willhave a bus load of youth. Spiritualseeds were planted. Prayfully, theHoly Spirit will sprout those seeds inthe years to come so that our youthwill be like trees planted by thewater. They will bring forth their ownfruit, their leaves will not wither andwhatever they do will prosper. (Psalm1:3)

On Wednesday April 22, 2009,Nazarene hosted a Global YouthConcert which consisted of threechoirs. The choirs were as follows:The First Choir of Krakow,Germantown Academy SingingPatriots and The Greater Philadelphia Youth Mass Choir. The First Choir of Krakow came all the way fromPoland and we were happy towelcome them here and privilegedthat they came to worship with us atNaz.Each choir performed selections. Itwas a great experience because wewere able to see young people fromdifferent walks of life come together and share their style of music withone another. There were words of encouragement given by Rev. KeithWilliams Jr. Keith’s message was apowerful one because he talkedabout how as young people, youreally only have today to get it rightwith the Lord. The purpose of the concert was tohelp raise money for CommunityPartnership Charter School. This is aschool in the city that is trying to helpyoung people who live in low incomeneighborhoods and homes to riseabove the odds and to one day beable to give back to society in apositive way. Pastor Williams is afounder and trustee at the school. Atthe end of the program, all threechoirs got together and did songswith one another. It was really abeautiful sight to see. The DVD is amust have. See audio room staff toget your copy.
