Advanced Project Ideas
Connecting a printer to the 8051 Training Kit: In this exercise, thestudent connects a parallel port printer to the MINI-MAX/51-C2board using available ports. Student then develops an 8051 pro-gram to print characters on the printer using DATA and STROBElines.
Using the 8051 Training Kit as a frequency counter: Student de-velops an 8051 program to measure the frequency and/or periodof an incoming signal using 8051’s interrupt inputs. The resultsare then displayed on the terminal window. Input signal is pro-vided from a lab signal generator.
Using the 8051 Training Kit as a temperature controller: Studentdevelops an 8051 program to connect LM35 or similar tempera-ture sensor to the analog inputs. Depending on the temperaturereading one of red, yellow or green LED’s are illuminated. If thetemperature goes above a preset threshold, the buzzer sounds.
Using the 8051 Training Kit EEPROM and the Analog-To-DigitalConverter as a multi-channel data logger.
