Minister’s Message
I am pleased to share with you #
CycleON
,Ontario’s 20-year vision or cycling inthe province. #
CycleON
is a strong andintegrated strategy – our goal is to helpmake Ontario the number one province orcycling in Canada. We do not live in a world o cyclists, drivers, pedestrians, wheelchair usersand transit riders. We live in a world opeople who move, whether it’s our eight-year-old daughter walking to school, momriding her bike to work or dad driving in hiscar on Highway 417, we are people whomake choices about how we move. Wemake those choices based on travel time, convenience, and or many, ethics and civicresponsibility. This Strategy is one morestep in giving Ontarians healthier, moreconvenient and saer choices on how theywant to move.Ontarians have told us they want trans-portation options that are convenientand aordable. They want transportationthat uses less uel, is saer, causes lesspollution and requires less expensive inra-structure. Ontarians want transportationthat brings neighbourhoods together andintegrates seamlessly into the built orm otheir community. We think
#CycleON
will add signicantlyto those choices.
#CycleON
will give Ontarians and their amiliesgreater mobility. To strive or our vision o a more cycling-riendly Ontario, we need to work inpartnership – across ministries, withmunicipalities, schools, transit agencies, cycling associations, tourism organizations, drivers, health promotion agencies, andmany others. There’s a role or everyone.I would like to express my sincere thanksto all o our partners and the people oOntario, particularly the more than 1,000people rom across the province whoprovided valuable suggestions and adviceduring the development o this Strategy.
