THE WORLD DEBATES BIOFUELS
At the Ethanol Summit, more than a hundred scientists, producers and investors from around the world discuss the present, the future and the economic, social and environmental benefits of ethanol
FOREWORD
It is an immense pleasure for the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) to extend a warm welcome to all participants of ETHANOL SUMMIT 2009, the second edition of an event launched originally by UNICA in 2007. Once again, we have an impressive array of specialists, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, personalities and government officials from all continents, all coming together in São Paulo and interacting to help us expand our knowledge and enrich our understanding of the many pathways that make up today’s biofuels industry.
In all, close to 150 speakers and moderators will be featured in 25 panels and six plenary sessions over three days, nearly all of them webcast to a global audience, in effect making São Paulo the epicentre of a sector whose global importance grows very clearly and decisively, at the same pace that the planet demands feasible solutions for the growing threats of climate change resulting from global warming.
The broad range of ideas that we will be presented with until June 3rd is the end result of more than a full year of intense planning, involving some of the largest companies, top researchers, government specialists and other institutions connected to the world of biofuels, a project developed with significant input from a large contingent of UNICA professionals both in Brazil and stationed abroad. At all times, our search focused on the latest trends and strategies, with those that can generate concrete results in the short and medium term considered priorities.
We sincerely hope you take home from Ethanol Summit 2009 as clarifying, impacting and advanced an experience as we had in mind when we built this event, which in our view, has become a “must” among the great personal growth and knowledge expanding opportunities for all who have a significant involvement with the biofuels industry.
We wish everyone a successful, productive Summit!
