Report to the Church Board June, 2009Spiritual Life DevelopmentSince the last board meeting things have been a bit intense. At every turn, staff members,Life Group leaders,Prayer Leaders and Spiritual Formation Leaders are under attack. With the new building and anew vision, the enemyseeks to cast doubt and tries to thwart God’s will for our lives, individually and collectively. Thisshould not surprise us, as we just started a Spiritual Formation class on Spiritual Warfare lastSunday which will go through July 5

.8 people showed up with very little advertising and today 4 more signed up. I wanted this classto be more grassrootsas I would much rather have those who are seriously interested in growing in their prayer livesand are called to be prayer warriors .
Staff:
Our office staff does an amazing job…without Kate, Kathy, Jeremy, Diana, Lani andLena…we couldn’t do it…we wouldn’t want to! Each one brings something very positive to thestaff and we are grateful that God has blessed us with a great group of people.
Life Groups:
As the lazy hazy daze (my pun) of summer subtly shows up…we need more nowthan ever to keep the families, especially the youth and children in our prayers. Summer is thetime when people “take off”, vacation, etc. and many of the groups will do this, however, werealize this is a time of building relationships with one another and connecting with others insideand outside of the body. We have an opportunity to invite our friends, neighbors and churchfamily to the beach, barbecues and hanging out. Other groups find it difficult to meet everyweek…a few have decided to continue through the summer. However, they will meet as socialgatherings, have a time of prayer but mostly fellowship. It’s all about “connecting”. We will beposting in the bulletin all of the “gatherings” taking place as well as offering a few “hospitality”homes to gather people throughout the summer. You could say our first social potluck gathering will be on Sunday, July 5

Prayer Ministry:
Communication and Knee-mail seems to have a number of people involved inintercessory prayer. Prayer teams are cropping up…all grass roots...exactly the way it should be.

Life Group/Spiritual Formation Restructuring:
At our last leadership meeting, three majorareas were discussed on how we can become more relevant and better at what we do. We brokeinto 3 groups… Communication, Caring andCurriculum. Lots of ideas came from it and is still in the process. ..a report will be coming overthe summer. If we are to grow and reproduce ourselves in others, we need to stay committed tothe cause and involve our leaders in the revamping process, which I believe will take on a newlife form in the fall.
