Purpose:
These
Guidelines or assessing competence in VET 
(the Guidelines) replace a ormer publicationproduced by the Department o Training called
The Guidelines or competency based assessment in vocational education and training in Western Australia 
and provide inormation on the policies andprocesses involved in assessment or practitioners and other stakeholders in the vocational educationand training sector in Western Australia.The Guide is part o a suite o six publications produced by the Western Australian Department oEducation and Training (the Department) all designed to assist trainers and assessors provide highquality assessment services. The other publications are:

A guide to continuous improvement o assessment in VET (2008) 
•
Troubleshooting guide: Assessment in VET (2008) 
•
Recognition o Prior Learning: An assessment resource or VET practitioners (2008) 
•
Designing assessment tools or quality outcomes in VET (2008) 
•
Reasonable adjustment: A practical guide to reasonable adjustment in assessment o candidates with disability in VET (2008) 
The inormation in this publication has not been reerenced to specic AQTF 2007 standards, howeverthe inormation provided is based on current standards and refects good practice.While the AQTF 2007 does not speciy any particular documentation or assessment the documentssuggested in this guide refect good practice that an RTO can consider and adopt as required.This inormation applies to Training Package qualications and accredited courses with avocational outcome.All publications are available in hard copy and can be downloaded rom vetinonet.det.wa.edu.au.
