Description

The document examines the different lexical items in relationship with horses in the Indo-European languages. It is shown that these words do not conform to the regular phonetic correspondences of the Indo-European languages. They have limited extension within the family and most of them can be traced back to Altaic languages. The conclusion is that the Proto-Indo-European language split much earlier than the domestication of horses.
