I. National Chung Cheng University (hereinafter the University) hereby enacts these provisions for international students with academic merit to study at the University. II. Sources of the University Scholarship Awards include: 1. Annual budgets appropriated by the University. 2. Funds raised from external donors and other resources. III. Eligible Recipients of University Scholarship Awards An applicant must meet all of the following criteria: 1. Applicants must qualify as international students as stipulated in Article 2 of National Chung Cheng University Provisions for the Admission of Foreign Students. 2. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time international students, working toward degrees or certificates (including transnational joint degrees) in an eligible University department or program. IV. Criteria of Eligibility for Scholarships: (I) (II) New applicants: Applicants must apply for admission to the University. New applicants are hereinafter referred to as incoming international students. Enrolled international students: Applicants must maintain satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible for financial aid according to the following guidelines Enrolled applicants are hereinafter referred to as enrolled international students. 1. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students. 2. Graduate students must complete at least four credit hours with a grade point average (GPA) over 70. Undergraduate students must complete at least six credit hours with a GPA over 60 in each semester of the previous academic year. 3. Graduate students writing theses who do not have a GPA from the previous academic year, must provide recommendation letters from advisors, and list their research accomplishments (including thesis proposals and published papers).

4. Students must have acceptable moral conduct records, with no recorded offenses. (III) Exchange students approved for study must comply with the provisions of the University scholarship for application, on the principle of reciprocal favored treatment. If an exchange student skips more than one month of classes, the scholarship award will be terminated. (IV) The recipients of University scholarships cannot be awarded the additionally full scholarships or financial aid from the University (full scholarships or financial aid equal to or more than the amount of this scholarship or financial aid). If an additional scholarship is approved, the first scholarship shall be terminated and the overlapping scholarship awards must be returned. (V) The remaining tuition and general fees after deducted by the Taiwan Scholarship will be subsidized by the University scholarship. V. Application Deadlines and Procedures: (I) Incoming and enrolled international students for the fall semester must submit an application the University scholarship awards to the Center of International Affairs and Exchange, by March 15. Incoming international students for admission to the spring semester must submit an application, by October 15. (II) The Scholarship Review Group of the Academic Exchange Committee will evaluate the incoming international students application documents before awarding any University Scholarships. (III) Enrolled international students shall provide a transcript and Evaluation Form I; Academic Performance of International Students (Attachment I) and Evaluation Form of International Students II; Language Abilities and Language Course Attendance (Attachment II), as a reference for approval or cancellation of the University Scholarship. VI. Details of University Scholarship Awards (I) University scholarship awards include: 1. The full or partial cost of general University tuition fees, 2. The full or partial cost of on-campus University housing, and/or 3. University Scholarships in amounts of up to NT$40,000 per semester (New Taiwan dollars) for doctoral students; up to NT$30,000 per semester for masters students; and up to NT$20,000 per semester for undergraduate students. University Scholarships are awarded separately in the first and second semesters. (II) University housing refers to basic housing in on-campus, University Dormitories, for the academic year including winter and summer breaks. Incoming international students can move in two weeks before classes begin for the fall semester, or one week before for the beginning of the spring semester. Those requiring more substantial housing, or incoming international students who need to move in earlier, must pay additional fees.

(III) University Scholarships will be awarded based on an academic-year and all eligible students may apply each academic year. The maximum duration of University scholarships is four years for doctoral students, two years for master students, and four years for undergraduate students. (IV)International students enrolled prior to the second semester of the 98th academic year are subject to the previous regulations pertaining to scholarship duration: five years for doctoral students; three years for masters students; and six years for undergraduate students. Because undergraduates in their fifth year, the Masters students in their third year and doctoral students in their fifth or sixth years could be awarded full scholarships for their tuition fees and University housing without the University scholarship, international students enrolled after the first semester of the 99th academic year must comply with the provisions of this rule. (V) The number of scholarships awarded will vary according to the annual budget of the University. (VI)Scholarship awards will be announced on May 31 for the fall semester (both incoming and enrolled international students), or December 20 for the spring semester (incoming international students), on the website of the Center for International Affairs and Exchange and recipients will be notified via official letters. Recipients must return their letters of consent within two weeks after receiving the official letters (verifiable by postmark). Those who fail to return the letters of consent within the stipulated duration without the consent of the University shall be viewed as having relinquished the scholarship. VII. Review Process for University Scholarship Awards: The selection of recipients and amounts of University scholarship awards will be decided by the Scholarship Review Group and be filed to the Academic Exchange Committee. The Dean of Academic Affairs will coordinate a conference of the Scholarship Review Group of the Academic Exchange Committee, consisting of Director of the Center for International Affairs and Exchange, and the deans of all colleges. VIII. Obligations of Recipients of University Scholarship Awards: (I) Recipients must attend the consultations organized by the Center for International Affairs and Exchange, in order to adapt to living and studying at the University. (II) Recipients of University scholarship awards must enroll in Chinese classes at the levels offered by the Language Center, except for those who have followed the Regulations of the Chinese training program and been certified by the Language Center. (III) Attendance at consultations and the Chinese training programs will be considered in the evaluation of University scholarship applications for the following academic year.

IX. Termination and Cancellation of the University Scholarship: (I) If a recipient of a University scholarship award is suspended from the university or drops out, the scholarship award shall be terminated. (II) If a recipient of a University scholarship award fails to satisfy the language and learning conditions, the University scholarship will be canceled by the Scholarship Review Group of the Academic Exchange Committee after filing to the Academic Exchange Committee. X. Other provisions that are not included shall be administered in accordance with related stipulations of the University. XI. These provisions and their revisions will be put into effect after the approval of the Universitys administrative meeting and a public announcement by the President of the University.
