Earlier days External recommendations and views were sought. Above are the different actors who engaged in consultations and submitted their recommendations to the Secretary General. On the left side are some of the most relevant participants across work streams. On the right side are the work streams. Coordination among the first four streams (UNSTT, UNGC, UNDG and REC) has been provided by the Special Adviser on post-2015 Development Planning and an informal group of Assistant Secretaries General.

The Secretary General has provided leadership over the work stream consultation processes. In July 2013 he submitted a report to th the 68 General Assembly summarising the discussions and providing recommendations. While the development of the post-2015 agenda is now in the hands of the GA, the SG will continue to provide guidance.

From now on The GA members will engage in an intergovernmental process to decide on the final post-2015 goals. Formal negotiations will precede a Summit of Heads of State and Government in 2015 and will draw upon the recommendations made by all actors involved in the consultation process.

The actors above were established following the 2012 Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development. Their contribution to the post-2015 development agenda is crucial as they will provide leadership, guidance and recommendations on sustainable development goals.

The UN System Task Team, established by the Secretary General, gathers more than 60 UN bodies and other international organisations. Its aim is to support the post-2015 development agenda process by providing analytical thinking and substantial inputs. Two reports were published: Realizing the future we want for all and A renewed global partnership for Development. The UN Global Compact aims to ensure that views of businesses and private sector are included in the post-2015 process. The Global Compact provided the Secretary General with recommendations on the post-2015 agenda in June 2013 (report). The UN Development Group launched a series of thematic and national consultations jointly organised by various UN entities and supported by civil society organisations. The first findings were published in a report in March 2013. A final report of the consultation findings will be prepared in the summer of 2013. The UN system is considering organising another round of thematic consultations in 2014. The UN Regional Economic Commissions were involved in consultations to identify key regional priority areas for the post-2015 development agenda. The Commissions released their final report in June 2013. The High Level Panel of Eminent Persons was established by the Secretary General to provide guidance and recommendations on the post-2015 agenda. The Panel, composed by representatives of academia, civil society, local authorities and private sector, released its report in May 2013. The Sustainable Development Solutions Network was launched by the Secretary General. It is an independent network gathering scientific and technical expertise from civil society, private sector and academia to tackle sustainable development challenges. The SDSN reported its findings to the Secretary General in June 2013 (SDSN report). The Special Adviser on post-2015 Development Planning, appointed by the Secretary General in 2012, provides advice to the Secretary and coordinates the development and consensus-building processes on post-2015 agenda among key relevant actors. The interagency Technical Support Team was established under the umbrella of the UN System Task Team and its aim is to provide support and inputs to the Open Working Group. The Open Working Group, mandated by the Rio+20 outcome document, is preparing a proposal on sustainable development goals to be submitted to the General Assembly during th its 68 session. The Open Working Group is complemented by the Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing which is mandated to recommend a financing strategy to mobilise resources and their effective use. It will report to the General Assembly in 2014. The High Level Political Forum, established at the 2012 Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development, is accountable for tracking sustainable development commitments and will potentially have a role in tracking the implementation of the post-2015 agenda.
