The Nat ional Poet r y Month Issue 2009 of the 10K Poets Zine represents the culminat ion of 18 months
of back breaking ef for t to br ing to the MySpace communi t y and beyond the best in non- t radi t ional
poet r y. Our goal f rom the beginning has been to give the unpubl ished poet a venue of recogni t ion. 10K
Poets began as a blog that created a communi ty of creat ive and social ly minded individuals. The blog
focused on present ing a real "Communi ty" to MySpace poets f rom diverse backgrounds, perspect ives,
and levels of exper t ise. From this smal l beginning 10K Poets grew into three onl ine poet r y journals,
Ev iscerator Heaven, Deep Tissue Magaz ine, and the f lagship z ine of the 10K Poets enterpr ise 10K
Poets Zine. Next, came the internet radio shows “Poets Dream in Color” on Wednesday nights and soon
to fol low the “Dai ly Happy Hour. ” The 10K Poets radio shows provided poets f rom al l over the globe
the oppor tuni t y to cal l in and read thei r poet r y l i ve. Many poets have found thei r voice in taking
advantage of this unique oppor tuni ty to grow not only as a poet , but also as a per former. Then, there
was the Spoken Word. 10K Poets began to par tner wi th producers, musicians and poets to create
Spoken Word t racks and to promote Spoken Word Ar t ists. This venture has grown into large proportions
with more and more poets recording their poems to music. This growth and new direction in poetr y
has been welcomed by all of us at 10K Poets.
10K Poets began wi th a common at t r ibute, we al l had a passion for poet r y and a desi re to be heard.
Over these 18 months, 10k Poets has grown as a communi ty and each individual has grown personal ly.
10K Poets has had such wonderful success, not because of one person, but because of the community
of poets. Individuals al l over the wor ld have stepped up to cont r ibute thei r t ime and talents to make
this poet r y communi ty what i t is today. I t could not be more f i t t ing that al l this combined ef for t f inds a
home in the Nat ional Poet r y Month Issue 2009 of the 10K Poets Zine. We know that this issue wi l l l i terally
blow you away. Enjoy reading and know that we promise from the bottom of our hearts to continue
to grow both as poets and as citizens of our global environment.
