Unfortunately, Dr. Capria is misinformed about the 5% response to dietary intervention. Not one single valid scientific study shows that 5% of children respond to diet. The percent reacting to a small amount of dye is not equivalent to those responding to diet. 70% or more respond to the Feingold or oligoantigenic diets in all well done studies. Studies such as Loman 2012 have shown that children in orphanages have ADHD symptoms. Thus, it is not really true that bad parenting has no effect. ADHD is a real disorder, indeed, but it is basically a group of symptoms and such symptoms can have more than one cause.
