What are Ochre and Umber?

Ochre (pronounced o-ker) is a natural, mineral,
earth pigment. Chemically, it is a hydrated ferric FeO(OH). Ochre is oxide, chemical formulation: mortar or brick, and non-toxic. Ochre can be used as is to achieve a range of colors from yellow-brown to buff simply by varying the 548 Ochre addition rate in concrete, pavers and block. Available as 548 Ochre or Curry N500. Curry N500 GS

Ochre and Umber are the most economical colorants in the pigment industry. Ochre can be used alone to create a natural buff color, or to significantly reduce the amount of the more expensive synthetic yellow iron oxide.

Color Consistency
New Riverside Ochre adheres to strict quality control tests during the production process, which ensures superior reliability of color and consistency. The pigment color of each product is monitored and held to a variance of less than +/- 1.5%.

Color Strength
Curry N500 (NIROXTM500) are concentrated ochre pigments with an average particle size of <1 micron and 6 Hegman grind. The particle size, iron oxide concentration and refractive index of 2.83 make it an excellent pigment for concrete products, blocks, pavers, and other applications where a buff color and good opacity are desired. It is available as a powder or in a granular form. Custom color matches can be provided.
