Local Elected Officials Urge the MTA to Postpone Vote onRatner Request to Reduce Payments for Atlantic Yards
Seven elected officials sent a letter on June 18, 2009 to Helena Williams, theActing Executive Director of the MTA, requesting a delay in the June 24vote to modify the Atlantic Yards project. The six officials who sent theletter, a copy of which is attached, include: Assemblymembers Jim Brennan,Joan Millman and Hakeem Jeffries, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery,and City Councilmembers Letitia James, Vincent Gentile and John Liu.In the letter, the officials sought the details of the MTA’s proposedmodification of the agreement with Forest City Ratner. In addition, theofficials asked whether the MTA was obtaining fair market value for itsassets, as required by law.
