The Honourable Dave Levac Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario Room 180, Main Legislative Building Queens Park, Toronto, ON M7A 1A2 September 6, 2013 Dear Speaker, I am writing to you in your capacity as Chair of the Board of Internal Economy. As you may be aware, recent media reports have suggested that the Member from Thornhill has been taking advantage of the Toronto Accommodation Allowance, despite the fact that his constituency is located a relatively close distance to Queens Park. This clearly goes against the spirit of the allowance as envisioned by the Board of Internal Economy. I write to you today to ask that the Board of Internal Economy meet at the first available opportunity to discuss this particular loophole. The Government strongly believes that a review of this situation should be a priority for the Board, to ensure that only MPPs representing constituencies a burdensome travel distance from Queens Park are eligible for the expense.
