Background Embossing

This tutorial really solves two problems. One is trying a technique

that is complicated or takes a lot of time to apply and the other
what to do when you don’t have any designer or pattern paper
that matches the cardstock you are using or the project you are
trying to create.

Time invested: 10 minutes

Materials Needed:

• Embossing Powder ( I used

clear but you can use
whatever color you would like)

• VersaMark Pad

• Stamp of Choice

• Embossing Tray

• Heating tool

• Ink color of choice

• Sponge or rubber brayer

• White cardstock
Ink your stamp with a Versamark
pad making sure to cover the entire
stamp.

Stamp the image onto white

cardstock. Press down on the entire
stamp to get a good image transfer.

Cover the image with embossing

powder. Shake off excess.
Heat the image with a heat tool
making sure to cover the entire
image.

Take a sponge and really ink it up in

a color you want to use as your
background color. In this case I
used suede.
Ink over the image until the desired
intensity. Let dry for a minute to set
the ink. Cut to desired size and mat.

For my final card, I cut a

2.5 by 4 inch piece of
what cardstock and
sponged the edges with
suede. I matted it onto
my background that I
just created. I then cut
a 2x2 piece of suede
and centered it over the
card. I cut a 2 by 4.25
piece of Razzleberry
cardstock and placed it in the lower ¼ of the card and then tied a
suede dotted bow. I used a stamped greeting in Razzleberry and
die cut it and used popup dots to attach to card. I then attached
the entire mat to my base card of Razzleberry textured cardstock.
The whole card was about 20 minutes.

Thanks!
