Onbehalf of all students and staff, Iwould like to thank all coachesand team advisors for your com-mitment and continued support of our students and sports.As we entered the Lenten Season,the school demonstrated our com-mitment to ensure students experi-ence the Catholic Graduate Ex-pectations. Students confirmedtheir dedication to exemplifyinggospel values through their ac-tions and leadership in variousclassroom activities. Furthermore,students took initiative and dem-onstrated Christian leadership intheir response to the school’sLenten campaign. The collabora-tive efforts of the student body asa whole will now allow the peopleof Torit in Sudan to provide edu-cational opportunities to the youthof this community. Our continuedefforts to ensuring we model theseexpectations on a daily basis willensure our students fulfill thegoals of our board’s mission state-ment and become “contributingmembers of society and theCatholic church”.On Thursday April 24

is April and spring hasdefinitely arrived! Afterwhat has felt like a very longwinter we are all anxious for thecontinuation of warmer weatherand sunshine. The past coupleof months have been busy onesfor our school community. Thenew semester got off to a smoothstart with students continuingtheir academic programs with anew set of courses. The registra-tion process for 2009-2010 isnow complete. Students will bereceiving their course verifica-tion form for the upcomingschool year with midterm reportcards. Students and parents arerequested to review these for er-rors or omissions. If changes arerequired, you are asked to con-tact our guidance office at yourearliest convenience. Studentenrollment for next year is simi-lar to this year’s. In Septemberwe are expecting to welcome943 students to St. Mary’sCatholic High School.On March the school held aWinter Sports Assembly. Dur-ing this time students andcoaches were recognized fortheir talents, efforts and partici-pation in high school sports. Weare very fortunate at St. Mary’sto have a very strong group of individuals make up our coach-ing staff. Teachers, support staff and parents consistently dedicatetheir time to ensure athletics isphone and coordinate anotherconvenient time. It is importantto note that there are a number of supports available to studentswho may be struggling in par-ticular subject areas. The staff inGuidance, Learning Services andStudent Success are interested inthe success of all students andare only a phone call away.As we approach June and theend of this school year, parentsare asked to note the schedulefor semester II final exams. Theexam periodwill run fromJune 19 –June 25. It iscritical thatarrangementsfor vacationsbe scheduled after the exam pe-riod. At the end of each schoolyear we honour and celebrate thespiritual and academic growthand development of our graduat-ing students. This year’sGraduation Ceremony will beheld on Thursday, June 25
