This Charter is a statement of Commitment of the educational activities of theSchool Education Department to the people of Tamil Nadu.The following Directorates are under the administrative control of the SchoolEducation Department:-1. Directorate of School Education2. Directorate of Elementary Education3. Directorate of Matriculation Schools4. Directorate of Non Formal and Adult Education5. Directorate of Government Examination6. Directorate of Teacher Education, Research and Training7. Teachers' Recruitment Board8. Directorate of Pubic LibrariesThe Commitment of each to the people of Tamil Nadu are elucidated in thesucceeding pages.

DIRECTORATE OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
The main objective of the Directorate of the Elementary Education is providingElementary Education to all. The Elementary Education is primarily helping theparents to give knowledge to children Directorate of Elementary Education strives toattain this goal. The following steps are being taken in this regard.1) All the School age children should be admitted in the School.2) Without any Dropout all the school children should complete up to VIII std.or minimum up to V standard.3) The students who complete standard 5 should have minimum skills.Towards achieving this objective, the following schemes are beingimplemented by the Directorate of Elementary Education.1) Provision of Elementary Education to all2) Inclusive Education for Disabled Children3) Approval of nursery schools4) Disbursing free Text books5) Disbursing free uniform6) Free bus Pass7) Incentive to Girls Students8) Talent Examination9) Parent Teachers Association
