Dear Sir or Madam,
dear friends of the DTM

With great con\ufb01dence we look towards the new
season \u2013 particularly under the impression of 138,000
spectators who attended the DTM presentation in
D\u00fcsseldorf. I have no doubt that the DTM will continue
to enthral audiences in 2006 as it has before. My
congratulations to those responsible at Audi and
Mercedes-Benz on the drivers they have signed, such
as the ex-Formula 1 stars Mika H\u00e4kkinen and Heinz-
Harald Frentzen, touring car aces Mattias Ekstr\u00f6m and
Bernd Schneider as well as two talented ladies, Vanina
Ickx and Susie Stoddart. This can\u2019t be topped, really.

Another big step forwards has been made with regard to the calendar. To the successful, traditional events in Germany and the Netherlands we have added three new circuits, equally rich in tradition: the Grand Prix circuit of Barcelona, the legendary circuit of Le Mans and Brands Hatch in the United Kingdom. This means we are represented in the manufacturers\u2019 most important markets.

Last year the DTM further expanded its position as the most successful touring car series in the
international arena. This is not only proved by the number of spectators having increased by 20 percent
to a total of 922,500 at eleven races. ARD television, as well, recorded an enormous, 66-percent
increase to an average of two million viewers of the live broadcasts. And, last but not least, the number
of TV viewers in the 35 countries in which the DTM races are now being broadcast has risen as well. This
success implies the commitment for us to continue doing everything within our means to make the DTM
even more attractive than before.

On behalf of the ITR and its partners, I wish all of you a thrilling 2006 DTM season.
