1.6 Definitions

In this Constitution, and the Regulations,unlessthe contrary intention appears:

Associationmeansthe Associationof Prisoners,shortenedto AOP

Members of the Association meansan ordinary member of the Association as defined

in section t.7 andHonorary Members

Officer of the Association meansthe General Secretary,Regional secretaryor Branch

Secretary,or any other member electedto a position under this Constitution

any meetingheld at anyprison, previously

Meeting of the Associationmeans

advertisedthroughout the prison estatetogether with an agendaat least two weeks

before it is held. Regional Meeting meansany meeting of all membersin any prison

andBranch Meeting meansany meeting of all memberson any wing. Local Voting

Procedure meansa vote of the membersat any prison in respectof local grievancesor

other local concerns.The Local Voting Proceduremay or may not take place after a

meeting provided that all of the local membershave been informed, at least two

weeks in advance,that avote will be sought on a particular matter.

National Voting Procedure meansa vote of the members,throughout the prison

estate,on proposedactions andlor regulations and/or policies consistentwith the

objects and the aims of the Constitution. The National Voting Proceduremay or may

not take place after a meeting provided that all membershave been informed at least

two weeks in advancethat avote will be sought on a particular matter.
