The Seventh-day Adventist Church has, from her inception, ma- jored in being a “commandment-keeping” movement. That is tosay, the members profess to keep all of the Ten Commandments, not just nine of them. Of course, they point out that the Sabbathcommandment is the one controverted throughout Christendom.I want to begin my explanation now by detailing how the Plain-tiffs in our controversy are breaking every sacred tenet of thecommandments of God through filing a civil lawsuit to protecttheir “trade name” via the “sword of Caesar” – “It is time forThee, [YAHWEH], to work: for they have made void Thylaw.” (Psalm 119:126; brackets and name for “LORD” sup-plied)Notice what the Bible says: “Love worketh no ill to hisneighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Romans13:10) And further, “Though I speak with the tongues of menand of angels, and have not [love], I am become as soundingbrass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of proph-ecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; andthough I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, andhave not [love], I am nothing. And though I bestow all mygoods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not [love], it profiteth me nothing.” (1 Corinthians13:1-3) Obviously, love, that is, unconditional love (that qualityof love that reflects the character of God Himself) is the primefactor in considering who is truly a “commandment-keeper.”The General Conference has proven her loss of compassion inviolating the second great commandment, “Thou shalt love thyneighbour as thyself.” (Matthew 22:39) The Savior gave furthercounsel with respect to treatment of others: “Ye have heard thatit hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thineenemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them thatcurse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for themwhich despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may bethe children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh hissun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, whatreward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if yesalute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do noteven the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as yourFather which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:43-48) Thislack of love is not unique to this generation, as the Bible indi-cates, “Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, byprofaning the covenant of our fathers?” (Malachi 2:10) Speak-ing of professors of a religion devoid of love, Ellen Whitewrites, “Professing to be the followers of God, they had turnedfrom the holy commandment, and were as salt that had lost itssavor.” (The Signs of the Times, March 14, 1895)Now, having dealt with the core motivation of thelaw of God, let us break down each of the firstfour commandments and see how my adversarieshave erred.
The First Commandment:
“Thou shalthave no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3) If at any time, aperson or church places anything, whether it be opinion, person, doctrine, policy or property, before the performance of lovetoward their Creator, this commandment is being violated. Myallegation is that the General Conference has positioned her“good name,” that is, her corporate image in estimation of as-sets, above the God of Heaven. This amounts to the “love of money” more than the love of her Maker. See what the Scrip-tures say: “No man can serve two masters: for either he willhate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one,and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mam-mon.” (Matthew 6:24) And, “they that will be rich fall intotemptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves throughwith many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things;and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” (1 Timothy 6:9-11)
The Second Commandment:
“Thou shalt not makeunto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that isin heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in thewater under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself tothem, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealousGod, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children untothe third and fourth generation of them that hate me; Andshowing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keepmy commandments.” (Exodus 20:4-6) The General Confer-ence Corporation is a “fictional person” or image of a naturalperson. Society has structured the legal system in such a wayas to make owning property by a church nearly impossiblewithout creating a holding company or legal corporation. TheSeventh-day Adventist Church has opted to form an image of herself for said purpose. If the Church had stopped here, therewould have been no transgression. However, the command-ment says not to “bow down thyself . . . nor serve” “any like-ness” of what God has already created. In opting to employ theGeneral Conference Corporation to initiate lawsuits, theChurch now bows herself down in a mode of worship, prayingfor this “fictitious person” to somehow defend her and protecther from her adversaries. Rather than seeking deliverance inEl Shaddai, the Almighty God and supreme provider, she re-sorts to “man-made fables” in place of divine power. Ellen G.White, cofounder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church wrote:“Some will be honest when it costs nothing; but when policywill pay best, honesty is forgotten. Honesty and policy will notwork together in the same mind. In time, either policy will beexpelled, and truth and honesty reign supreme, or, if policy ischerished, honesty will be forgotten. They are never in agree-ment; they have nothing in common. One is the prophet of Baal, the other is the true prophet of God.” (Lift Him Up, page287) The General Conference now worships policy and theways of the secular world more than God Almighty.
The Third Commandment:
“Thou shalt not take thename of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will nothold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)This commandment could be developed in a long dissertation.Let me make this as brief and simple as possible.
