Development Update

Working Hard or Camphill’s Future
In FY 2008-9, we received over $1,802,000 of our $1,840,000 goal – no smallfeat in these times. All who have supported our work in this past year have ourheartfelt appreciation.
The philanthropic audit (one-third supported by the Dyson Foundation) stronglysuggested we hire a full-time development director, which we are now seeking. Acting Director John Baring will continue to be a liaison between Developmentand the Village.
Preparation for the 9th Triennial Concert to benet the North American Camphillcommunities is underway for October 6th at NYC’s Rose Hall at Jazz at LincolnCenter. Camphill Village is partnering with other Camphill communities to invitesponsors for this gala event (www.camphillconcert.org).
As our villagers age, we need to interest a new generation of young people – likevillagers’ siblings and their friends – in the life of the Village. If you’d like to spon-sor an event to let your friends, family and colleagues know about us, please letus know and we will gladly help!
Thank you to all our supporters! We aregrateul beyond mere words or your kind-ness and generosity, and we hope you willsee the results o your help on the pagesthat ollow.
The Village View
has a new ormatnow – a direct refection o our need to cutcosts. We hope this ormat will make it eveneasier or you to stay in the loop.

Camphillers Speak!
 The Presidential Inauguration
Come On Over!

Russet and Brookledge Houses Near Completion with Summer Move-In Goal
I you’ve been to Russet and Brookledgehouses in the past, you won’t believeyour eyes when you next return! While work is still in progress at bothstructures, each house has alreadybeen expanded signicantly.Upon completion, each will openits doors to amilies and villagers whowill live in greater comort and space, with updated amenities. Brookledge iscloser to completion than Russet, but itis exciting to see both houses take theirnew orms. Work is scheduled to becompleted in July, somewhat dependentupon the weather this spring.
On January 20th, as in many places around the nation,Camphill Village came together to celebrate the presidentialinauguration and watched the festivities and speeches ona big screen in Fountain Hall. It was a moving experienceto watch history-in-the-making together — and one not soonforgotten. We asked individual villagers what they thoughtof the inauguration and of President Obama, and here’swhat they had to say (clockwise, top to bottom):
Kelly McCaughan
“I liked the inauguration, but thought itwas quite long. So far, I think Obama is fair.”
 Vera Blanchfeld
“It’s kind of annoying because I voted forsomeone else and now I have to hear about him most of thetime.”
Katie Schreckinger
“We have never seen the inaugurationbefore. This was my rst experience watching it. He is a coolguy and a good guy.”
Beth Stevens
“I think it’s very alright that Obama is fromChicago and so am I.”
Christopher Duffy
“It was special to see the rst blackpresident being sworn in and see Bush give his regards toObama as he was leaving. It was also nice to know thatthere’s a First Grandmother living in the White House, for therst time in history.”
 Vicky Fliesler
said she liked it.
