Overview
Acting as a natural bridge between Latin America and theUnited States, Mexico is a country with huge potential.Covering an area roughly the same size as Western Europe, and with a population o 116 million, Mexico is the secondlargest economy in Latin America. Due to its newly oundreputation or being a rapidly developing, dynamic economy,Mexico is regularly ranked in the top three emerging marketsto do business with.Aer maintaining a strong growth o 3.9% during 2012,economic growth is expected to remain stable with theGross Domestic Product (GDP) predicted to grow by 3.5%throughout 2013. Analysts also orecast that the Mexicaneconomy will be larger than that o the UK by 2040, and theworld’s seventh largest economy by 2050.As the country’s economy has grown, so has the demand orimports. Te Mexican Government is increasingly lookingto reduce their trade dependency on the USA, so the EU-Mexico Free rade Agreement places UK exporters in an idealposition to compete on equal terms with USA and Canadaand import duties will not be applied.Te UK is one o the largest investors in Mexico and thedemand or UK goods and services extends across theeconomy rom sectors such as education and inrastructurethrough to ood and drink. UK rade and Investment isworking with the Mexican government to double bilateraltrade to £4.2 billion by 2015.
