n unclaimed bag created aflutter inside the Chennaiairport complex on early Thursday. The situation re-turned to normal after security personnel found out that thebag contained live ornamentalfish. According to police sources,some passengers spotted theabandoned bag near the bag-gage claim area of the interna-tional terminal and alerted theauthorities. A security teamrushed in and inspected thebag for any explosive sub-stances inside. Upon opening the bag, the team discovered65 live ornamental fish sealedin plastic covers inside threepolythene bags.The bag is suspected to bethat of an unidentified passen-ger who had arrived from Sin-gapore on Wednesday night.The passenger could haveabandoned the bag to avoidseizure and arrest by the Cus-toms department, policeadded.However, preliminary in-vestigations were conductedon the incident and airportauthorities sent the bag back to Singapore.

Subramanian went a step ahead by turning environment-friendly at the wedding of his son Dr. Ilancherizhiyan, which was so-lemnised on Thursday at Kalaivannar Aran-gam. Around 25,000 bags of saplings were dis-tributed to the guests in the morning, and wehear another 5,000 will be handed over at thereception. About six varieties of saplings,each measuring between one and two feet,including those of neem, teak and
naval 
, wasthe Mayor’s style of sending off guests. Apparently, the Mayor had been working on this initiative for the last six months. Noprizes for guessing the message he was driv-ing through each of his guests. Make the city green!
