YOUNGSTERS CHOOSE CROATIA VACATION FOR FUNDRAISING

TOURISTS 'CHOOSING TO EAT IN'
A group of British schoolchildren willbe taking a Croatia holiday with a diffe-rence this summer, it has emerged. TheStroud News and Journal reports thatfour 17-year-olds from the south-west of England will cycle 500 miles along theDalmatia coast to raise money for theTeenage Cancer Trust. Giving themsel- ves just six days to complete the journey, the quartet will need to find ideal Croa-tia accommodation so that they can resteach evening. Indeed, organiser FelixSowerbutts, who lives in Frampton Man-sell, predicted that some of the cyclingmight prove to be a bit painful for thegroup. Felix will join Ben Walter, CharlieStuckey and George Hazell on the trip, which starts when they get to Split onJuly 28th. If they have time before thecycling expedition gets underway, they may wish to visit the Diocletian's Pala-ce - a historic building in the city whichhouses many of the region's historical, architectural and cultural delights.People heading on their holidays this year areincreasingly likely to eat their evening meals in theiraccommodation on some nights, it has been sugge-sted. Online comparison service Travelsupermarket.com said that this is the case among British tourists,as they look to save some money in these tougheconomic times. Eating in Croatian accommodation will enable visitors to save their money for a nightout in the exciting holiday destinations across thecountry - be it Dubrovnik, Split or the main townson Croatia’s many islands. Commenting on Britonsabroad more generally, travel expert at comparison website Peter Smith said: “You might find peopleare going to local supermarkets more rather thaneating out every night, so you get a lot of peopleself-catering.” He added that local supermarkets aregetting more trade as “people are buying all theirgoods and spending a night or two in”.
