I read in the LOCAL newspaper today the headline, \u201cWoods rallies for Bay Hill Win.\u201d \u201cYep, Tiger WOODS is back.\u201d After being out so LONG with knee surgery, Tiger said, it\u2019s been awhile, but God, it felt good.\u201d

I have been the LAST 5 years taking cancer treatments at Wake Forest in North Carolina and there I picked up a magazine talking about golfer John Daly and his new book, entitled, \u201cMy Life In and Out of the Rough\u201d. HE has been fighting battles with suspensions, whiskey, smoking and bad behavior. Then John accuses his wife of assaulting HIM in 2007.

I thought of some ways to stay out of the ROUGH in your LIFE as Tiger has in his life to be a WINNER. One should have \u201cFAITH in God\u201d-Mark 11:22. In 42 years of marriage and 31 years of pasturing one CHURCH and raising 6 beautiful CHILDREN, and the death of Melody and FOURTH stage cancer, \u201cFAITH in God\u201d has brought us through!! \u201cFAITH in God\u201d always wins, because God does NOT fail us when we believe!!

I thought a good way to stay out of the ROUGH is to have peace that comes from trusting the LORD. Trusting HIM with your LIFE, family, friends, direction of LIFE, difficult decisions, headaches of LIFE, broken finances, and on and on we could go. A good way to stay out of the ROUGH is to LOOK to the LORD for inspira- tion. WE all need to be inspired and motivated in our LIVES. WHEN I watch Tiger Woods play golf and see his discipline, determination, and see his dedication to training, I am inspired to do better at serving the LORD in my preaching and reaching OTHERS for CAUSE of CHRIST.

Staying out of the ROUGH demands a LIFE LIVED for the LORD. You can\u2019t be half on and half off, up and down, in and out. THERE must be a steadfastness of HEART and MIND and WILL to be at our BEST for the LORD. THE number one way to stay out of the ROUGH is to put JESUS first. I went to a funeral of Preacher Eulis Guy. His son Eddie went up to the casket at the service and pinned on his father\u2019s lapel a pin that said, \u201cJESUS FIRST\u201d. \u201cYEP!!\u201d
