How to Install Mac OSX on Eee 1000H(shout out goes to maceee.com for a lot of the material here)Ingredients1. Eee 1000H, with power brick2. iDeneb 10.5.4 DVD2a. (optional) Shinrai's SupportDVD3. External USB DVD Drive4. A couple of free hoursBios ModThis mod is required in order to boot into OSX, otherwise you get kernel panics orthe screen getting stuck in the gray Apple logo. Unless this was performed by me,do at your own risk. Though, I've reflashed a unit several times and had noproblem. Just make sure the BIOS you are using is a complete download.1. Plug in your DVD Drive into your Eee. I am assuming you have an XP versionhere, so boot into Windows now. Linux users, please consult your manual2. Copy the BIOS Rom under the OSXonEEE folder in the SupportDVD to your desktop.Filename is 1000HBIOS.ROM.2a. You can also download it here: http://osrom.net/biosmod/ Make sure tochoose the 1000H link and unzip it to your desktop3. Run Programs > Asus > Asus Update for EeePC > AsusUpdate.3a. If you want, choose Save BIOS to File if you want a copy of the originalBIOS. I recommend saving it to an external drive like a flash USB4. Choose Update Bios from File and pick the ROM file from 2. If you downloadedthe file, the extension should be .ROM5. Restart and wait until it completes loading.Pre-Install ConfigTake note that this install will wipe our your entire HDD. You can use the AsusRecovery Disk if you want to go back to using XP.1. Insert the iDeneb DVD into the DVD Drive and reboot.2. Rapidly hit F2 on boot to enter the BIOS3. Go to Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration and Enable everything.4. Hit F10 to save the changes and reboot.5. Rapidly hit Esc on boot and choose the DVD drive when prompted6. When you see the menu bar on the initial install screen, go to Utilities > DiskUtility.7. Click on your disk and and under Partition, click on the Volume Scheme dropdown and choose 1 Partition. This guide assumes one partition on the entire drive.8. Click Options and pick GUID Partition Table. Make sure that the drive isformatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). You may also rename your drive here ifyou want.9. Click Apply and wait for a minute or so to finish the format. Click the redbutton to close the utility.10. Back to the main install screen, follow the screens. On the last screen, clickCustomize and check on the following:10a. Expand by clicking the triangle for Patches then Chipsets and checkICHx Fixed.10b. Expand the triangle for Kernel and check Kernel 9.4.0 Vanilla.
 
10c. Expand the triangle for Network then Wireless and check Broadcom.10d. Expand the triangle for Fix and check both FireWire Remove andApplePS2Controller10e. Expand the triangle for Video, then the triangle for Intel. Finally,check the box for GMA950.11. Click Continue and you can Skip DVD verification in the next screen if youwant to install faster. Install takes around 30 minutes. Afterwards, reboot intoMac OSX.12. On reboot, finish the initial setup for your Mac.12a. When you get to the screen asking for your network connection, choosethe one that says you have none.12b. Skip the registration screen by hitting Alt + Q on the necessaryscreen.12c. When creating your account, make sure you include a password.Troubleshooting:Q: My install screen and progress bar disappeared after clicking Continue on thelast screen. What do I do?A: Just start again, but you don't need to reformat the drive again. Haven't founda fix for this yet so the best bet is to go back to step 1.Q: I can't seem to get past the screen for Migration Assistant. It loops back tothe start. Help!A: Enable webcam on the Bios. Plugging in an external camera might work as wellbut I'm not sure since I don't have one for testing right now.Drivers and Fixes1. Insert the SupportDVD and copy the entire OSXonEEE folder onto your desktop.1a. If you don't have it, you can get the files at the links below. Run the AboutThisMac package found in the folder.3. Copy the Kext Helper to your Applications folder and launch it.4. Drag the drivers (all the .kext files) in the OSXonEEE folder and drop it intothe Kext Helper app window. Enter your password on the blank to run the tool andreboot.5. Open the WifiUtility.dmg in the folder (or the Ralink dmg file for those thatdownloaded it) and go to CardbusPCIWireless-10.5 folder and runCardbusPCIWireless-Leopard.6. Reboot after and launch System Preferences to check if the wifi is detected. Itwill show as an Ethernet connection. You can rename it to Wifi if you wish.6a. To use wifi, you need to launch the program namedWirelessUtilityCardbusPCI which is a big R+ in your Applications folder6b. Toggle the device on and off under the Advanced tab and make sure you'veturned on the wifi in the Bios6c. Click on the Site Survey tab and click on your Wifi SSID. Click Refresh ifit does not show up. You can also enter the password if you have one in the nextscreen.6d. You can also create a profile so you don't need to choose your SSID eachtime. Click on the SSID and then Add Profile. Enter the necessary details and inProfile, Activate it.7. If you have a SupportDVD, drag the Wifi On app to your Applications folder oryour Dock. This will automate the wifi toggle for you.
