Mr. President,
There are some days, a 4 year old, injured by a dog, died of neglect due to his injuries. Faced with this terrible tragedy, I wish to express my profound sadness and my thoughts go first of all to his family.
But I'm also extremely shocked to learn that revenge, that does not make sense, will befall all dogs in Romania, even nicer.
And condemned to death any one species, as provided your draft decree is totally contrary to the laws and usages of civilized countries members of the European Union. Your decision sounds like a bloody outrageous call a politician responsible for making decisions in equanimity and not to win the votes of some of the public.
For decades, trying to work my Foundation in Romania to improve the management of stray dogs. Situation arising from a time when the cruel and hasty decisions, like the one you propose, unfortunately proved their inefficiency. Without any help from the government but with significant investment, both financial and human, positive results are visible, as in Brasov. It would be absurd to jeopardize all efforts by many organizations to simply calm the spirits. A law will soon be passed to proceed in a more systematic controls and sterilization of dogs and reduce their number. These are campaigns that you should promote adoption for these street dogs have a chance to integrate into the community and find the family life they had before they were thrown into the street by your predecessors .
I leave it to the intelligence and common sense of the majority party to pass a bill that meets the requirements of the European Union, which is now part of your country, since 2007. I need to remind you.
