Failure Doesn’t Have to Exist
Richard BoettnerHave you ever felt held back from doing something because youwere afraid of failure? Did you doubt yourself? Were you told youwould never finish anything and now you are afraid to start anythingbecause of this? Were there a set of excuses going through your head, rationalizations? So many people have and continue to do!Let’s face it; no one likes to fail and yet they create it intheir life. It seems they exist in a failure rut. None of us likes tofeel like we’re ineffective, weak or lacking in any way, and that’sexactly how failure makes us feel, doesn't it, when we allow it. But,by making the conscious choice you can allow failures to occur, butnot hold onto them or hold you back, keeping you from your ultimategoal. However, you may be surprised to know, failure doesn’t exist, atleast not until YOU say that it does. Once you convince yourself thatit does, it does. In the dictionary, failure is defined as: 1) afailing to do or to perform, 2) a state of inability to perform anormal function adequately, 3) a fracturing or giving way understress, 4) a lack of success.Take a close look at these definitions and you will begin torealize they have one thing in common, when it comes to achieving agoal: failure is a PERCEPTION, not a reality. Once you allow failureto exist in your life, it does.
If you believe you failed, you already have.
If you believe you don’t have the ability to succeed, you willnot.
If you believe you can’t handle the pressure, you will not.
If you believe you’re not successful, you will not be.Failure only exists in your own mind! The moment you give up orstop working toward your goals, failure takes hold and reaffirms thatyou are not worthy of success. There may be times when things don'twork out, learn from them, don't make them routine. That is howfailures are turned into successes. By accepting that you maysometimes fail and use them as lessons, you learn to be successfuland not allow failures too weigh you down or hold you back. But what if you never do that? What if you continue workingtoward your goals, one step at a time for as long as it takes? Thenthere is no failure, is there?

This simple insight should be encouraging, especially if youhave been working toward your goals and have not yet seen results orseem to be getting any closer. By simply going on, showingperseverance, you cannot fail!
Three simple tips
to help youstay strong and focusedon your goals:
1)
Never give up on yourself or give yourself an out. People dothis without even realizing it. They give in all the time and get useto doing it, giving up on themselves. They are willing to work hardon achieving their goals, because it takes too long, until the goinggets tough, too rough, or their motivation dwindles. Don’t allow thisto happen to you! Commit yourself to making your goals happen, nomatter what! Keep heading toward your goal, no matter how slow or howlong it may take. Never quit, never give up, never admitting failure, and never lose your determination or focus on the results, your goal.
2)
Don’t get hooked on a specific time frame for completion. Somethings may need to be completed by a specific deadline, but there areso many things in your life that don't need a deadline. It’s okay toset a general time line, but be aware that some circumstances may bebeyond your control, so you can’t say for sure when your goal will beachieved. If you set a deadline carved in stone and don't allow forflexibility, you’re just setting yourself up for failure proving toyourself you don't deserve to ever succeed! Instead, get an idea ofwhen you would like your goal to be completed by, but then take itjust one day at a time always focusing on making progress, and do notfocus on not having reached your goal yet. Keep taking one more stepcloser each day, week, month, year and before you know it you willhave achieved your goal. You will have succeeded!
3)
Finally, be sure that you don’t see obstacles or setbacks asfailures or excuses to stop working toward your goal. The two arecompletely different. An obstacle, setback or delay means only onething: it isn't time for your goal to be completed yet. That's all!It doesn’t mean you have failed! It doesn’t mean you’re weak! Itdoesn’t mean you will never achieve your goal(s)! It simply means youare just not done yet, and there is no reason to stop working towardyour goal. You have got to just keep moving forward – stayingmotivated, toward your goal, to find a way around or through anobstacle in order to achieve your goal. This may have been short, but I certainly hope it's been of help.Below you will find some resources, tools, to help you reach whatever
