Hernia is a protrusion of a viscus orpart of viscus through an abnormalopening in the walls of its containingcavity. it can be through abdominalwall, muscle fascia or diaphragm.Most common forms include,inguinal, femoral and umbilicalaccounting for about 75%.herniasmay be acquired or conginental.
