Franklin Citing the power of opportunity Jessie Rodriguez of Franklin announced her intent to run for the 21st Assembly District, the seat held by the recently-resigned Rep. Mark Honadel (R-Oak Creek). I am a firm believer that while we cant always choose our circumstances, we can make our own opportunities. Throughout my life Ive turned challenges into successes and I want to take what Ive learned to help make sure our government doesnt stand in the way of opportunities for small businesses, families and our children, said Rodriguez in her address to family, friends and supporters. When asked to consider running for office, Ill admit it took me by surprise. But the encouragement and support I have received from so many people has helped me realize that this is the right choice. I have helped parents transform the lives of their children and I will apply that experience towards helping the people of the 21st Assembly District. In the past three years, Jessie has worked with parents and schools across the state advocating for parental rights and empowerment. Listening to parents, identifying their needs, and helping their families find solutions and support drives everything Jessie does, said Jason S. Crye, Executive Director of Hispanics for School Choice. Her humility, strong work ethic and passion for the community are qualities which make her perfect to represent the 21st district. Jessie was born in El Salvador and moved to the US with her family in 1986 in the midst of a civil war. Coming to America provided many opportunities for Jessie and her family. Hard work and a dedication to education was the key to capitalizing on those opportunities. Excelling in school, Jessie graduated from Hamilton High after three years and enrolled into Marquette University on an academic scholarship. She received a B.A. from Marquette in Communications Studies, which she now puts to use as an outreach coordinator for Hispanics for School Choice a nonprofit organization that helps low-income parents find schools for their children. Her work for on behalf of Hispanics for School Choice has helped create opportunities for not only her 3 year old

son Noah, but also thousands of Wisconsin families on the issue of education and parental choice. Jessie and her husband Aaron, an area firefighter, are residents of Franklin. Jessie expressed her gratitude to Rep. Mark Honadel for being a leader on education and a good steward of taxpayer money. Rep. Honadel is a great example of leadership; hes humble, willing to listen, and fights for the taxpayers, she said. Jessie stressed that her approach to representing the 21st district will hinge on getting things done, which means building relationships and listening to the community.
