Dear Fellow Ohioan:I’m very proud of the hard work and dedication of the men and
women of the Crime Victims Services Section in scal year 2006. Thesection processed nearly 12 percent more claims in 2006 compared
to the previous year, yet reduced the response time for a decision byalmost 10 percent.
My ofce paid out $14.5 million in compensation this year to victims
of crime which is more than a 38 percent increase from the previousyear.Embracing technology, streamlining the organization, and
promoting efciency have yielded measurable returns for Ohioans
from our Crime Victims Services Section. Administrative costs have
been reduced by almost $500,000 since 2000, while the response time
for processing claims has continuously fallen, allowing eligible victims to receive assistance in recordtime.Under our Crime Victims Assistance Program, we continued to administer millions of dollars ingrant funding to victim service providers.
This report highlights the programs my ofce offers to help victims of crime on the road to recovery.
Sincerely,Jim PetroAttorney General
