Squats were officially killed off by GW some years ago and they never issued the long awaited Codex. This is my attempt to recreate what it would have contained for third edition 40K. This document has been on Scribd in Word format for a few months but is here re-upped in PDF format to solve compatibility issues with iPaper viewer used on this site.

 SUATS

 SUATS
In recent times all reference to theSquat race and its long relationshipwith the Imperium have been wipedfrom official records. The reason forthis re-writing of history is unclear butit coincides with a loss of contact withthe Squat Homeworlds due tomassive disturbances in the Warp.Perhaps the Imperium of Manbelieves that the Squats have finallybeen destroyed and is simply tidyingup loose ends. Perhaps the rulers ofhumanity are plotting to take theSquat’s vast mineral wealth andadvanced technology for themselvesand want to claim their territory asuninhabited.Whatever the reason, it is a lie.The Squat Leagues continue to standin defiance of everything the galaxycan throw at them. What they have, they hold – said and true!

When Squats take a morale check theyignore any modifiers for beingoutnumbered by the enemy.
Stuntie
Their physical stature meansthat Squats are not the fastest infantryarmy. A Squat on foot Moves 5”,Assaults 5” and can never travel morethan 10” under any circumstances.
Mech Know-How
Getting into the guts ofmachinery is second nature to mostSquats. They are incorrigible fixers andimprovers and are particularly proud ofmakeshift engineering solutions pulledout of the hat in an emergency. Thoseof the Warrior Brotherhoods who crewand maintain battlefield vehicles arerenowned for their skill and ingenuity inkeeping their mounts in the fight.Drivers and gunners personalise theirvehicles with double-redundancybackup systems, alternative fuel lines, bypasses for non-essential functionsand racks of spares and tools fixed tothe hull for running repairs.Whenever a Squat vehiclesuffers damage, either ‘weapondestroyed’ or
immobilised’, anyremaining crew can attempt to patchthings up. At the start of each turn roll aD6. On a 5 or 6 the damage is repairedand the vehicle may act normally inthat respect once again.
Eternal Hatred
Squats form a closed society, obsessed with their own property, status and honour. Kinship and oath-binding go deep and so does anybreach of these codes. It is the duty of one generationto carry on the resentments and blood-grudges of the generations before. Inthis way a living Squat gives hisforebears a sort of eternal life, whilethe ancestors bequeath purpose totheir progeny.Every Squat warrior has whatamounts to a personal grievanceagainst the Universe as he feels his kinhave been betrayed by every race in itat one time or another. In battle thisgives an extra bitterness to closequarter fighting and makes the Squatsa dangerous enemy to underestimate. In the first round of a hand tohand combat, Squats re-roll anymissed To Hit dice.
No Matter the Odds
Squats have spent millenniadefending their grim and isolatedstrongholds against invaders of allkinds. Often the fight has been in vainand another chapter has been addedto the ponderous chronicle of heroicfailure that is a cherished part of Squatculture. The Last Stand is a majorleitmotif of Squat art and literature anddauntlessness in the face of certaindeath is a highly regarded quality in asoldier.
