Personal Response

Bequest of Love written by almama is a very touching short story. It is about Karim, who was born handicapped, a disability that make him impossible to use and move his lower half of his body without help. Karim is a very attractive character; he showed how disability does not stop him from having dreams. When he told his mother about how he wants to travel around the world to know everything in it, he shows that its not wrong to dream big. He accepts the reality that he is a disable person. It is hard to face the fact that we are disabled but Karim showed how disability wont stop you doing something for yourself. In this story, I can feel the love Pn. Haryati shows to his disabled son. She is very responsive to Karim unanswerable question. She is very concerned with Karims condition and feelings. She is willing to do anything for Karim fulfill his dreams. When Karim collapse, Pn. Haryati feel so sad that she cant accept the fact that she will lose her son. She panicked and has feeling of hatred to doctors and nurses. But it is because she feels hopeless and helpless because she cant do anything to save Karims life. This story taught me to love my family more. It makes me feel sad to read about how tragic you can lose someone you love the most. But in the end, you have to face the fact that fate cannot be changed. As a human, you have to believe that everything happened for a reason. This story can be a motivation to some parents who have the same problem with their children. They must be strong to accept whatever has been fate to them. As a family member, we must always have time and help our family. It is important to take care of your family because family is the one who will help you if youre in trouble. Like Fariq and Faroq who slowly understand that Karims disability makes him someone special for them. They love him even more before Karim dead. We should also learn to make someone happy. Everyone should have some happiness although their life is full of sadness. Lastly, this story taught me to always feel grateful for whatever happened. Behind every problem, there is a reason why it happened. Maybe it is something better for us to have faced what we need to face.
