The thing to remember about the differences between a CM and walkie-talkies is that they only have a single channel or a single conversation occurring at one time. Where as a cell phone can use multiple digital channels at once.

Whereas a cellular phone is a device of duplex system, in which a person can listen and talk both at the same time. A mobile phone in essence and give and go with a signal at the same time. There are two different channels or frequencies that allow information to flow in two directions at once. You can communicate on 1664 channels in a mobile phone but in CB radio only 40 channels are used.
