The Work-related LearningGuide – First edition
The Work-related Learning Guide
This guide is intended to provide people with a good understandingof work-related learning. It is aimed at everyone involved – youngpeople and their parents or carers, employers, schools and colleges, and the Education Business Partnership Organisations that help tomake it happen.
In this respect, the Guide differs significantlyfrom previous information and guidance aboutwork-related learning which, generally, has beendirected towards individual groups of people ororganisations and often been quite technical. The primary focus of the Guide is work-relatedlearning for 14-19 year-olds in England but it willhave relevance to activities across the whole agerange from age five upwards. It explains, clearly and simply:what work-related learning is;why it is important;who is involved in making it happen;how to get the best out of it;how young people are kept safe while theyare doing it;other things that are useful to know, andwhere to find further information, helpand support. It is very deliberately entitled a ‘first edition’because it will be followed by subsequent editionswhich will take account of new developments asthey arise and of comments made to the editorby the people who use it.
