Maria Kominek,
a Lay Dominican Bulgarian living
in Poland is the founder of the
fraternity;
the first member in Bulgaria
entered
in 1987.

Fr. Gerald Stookey promoted
the constitution of the fraternity,
officially approved by
the Master Carlos A. Costa OP
on 25 November 2005, the feast
day of St. Catherine of Alexandria.

Fraternity of
St. Catherine
of Alexandria
is now a part of the
Hungarian Vicariate.
SHORT HISTORY
The regular weekly meetings
have the following order:
participation in the Holy Mass,
prayer of Vespers and
listening and discussion of
formative reading matter.
PRIVATE OCCUPATIONS
As the sole representative
of the Dominican Order
in the Bulgarian Catholic
Church, our fraternity above all
bears witness to the specific
Dominican spirituality.
ACTIVITIES
With our activity we contribute
to the popularizing of
the Aristotelian-Thomistic way
of thinking, which is virtually
unknown among the
Bulgarian intellectuals.
ACTIVITIES
Some of the members
constitute the main body of
the Catholic Cultural Centre
attached to the Apostolic
Exarchy.

Meetings, lectures and
open retreats of the visiting
priests

The Christian series ‘Vita
Christiana’ published a recent
Dominican author
in Bulgaria for the first time.
ACTIVITIES
Some of the members
participate in the work of
the World Bible Community on
the new ecumenical translation of
the Holy Scripture.

The members attend
international catholic
conferences
dedicated to catholic press,
cultural centers, university.
