sbaby without her knowing. According toreports,on June 13, 2012, 26 year-old Karim Habibi's girlfriend took a pregnancy test which waspositive and told Habibi, who seemed
pleased and excited
about theprospect of becoming a father. But two days later, Habibi went to hisdoctor
s office and asked the nurse to provide him with a tablet to stophis girlfriend
s pregnancy, which he intended to give her without herknowledge. The nurse refused the request and contacted authorities.The Judge in the case has issued a restraining order stating that Habibicould not see his ex-partner and their son for five years.
 
Also this week, a South Dakota man has beenaccused of giving herbs to his girlfriend to cause an abortion:Prosecutors describe it as a "shocking case" of a man giving hispregnant girlfriend poison to abort their child. The attempted fetalhomicide trial of Alfredo Vargas got underway Wednesday, almostthree years after his former girlfriend, Lisa Komes, delivered a healthybaby boy. According toreports,one night Vargas gave Komes a fountain drink that she said tasted "bitter and gritty." Another time,Komes woke up to find a white residue in the bottom of a fountaindrink cup, but Vargas rinsed the cup and threw it out, she said. Then inmid-May, Komes became suspicious when Vargas brought her a 32-ounce fountain pop that she said smelled of mint. She then calledpolice.Police took the pop for testing, she said. Two weeks later, shecalled police again when Vargas brought her another drink. Severalmonths later and after her son was born, Komes learned that the firstsoda contained pulegone. Attorney Scott Roetzel dismissed a similar charge against Vargas afterCircuit Judge Mary Thorstenson rejected his expert witnesses. Roetzelfiled the new charge in October 2012, again accusing Vargas of trying tokill his unborn child by giving his girlfriend herbs.Sunday,a pregnant Ohio woman was shot at by her boyfriend when sherefused to have an abortion. According to reports, the 18 year-oldwoman told police that she was driving her car when, her unbornbaby
s father, 23 year-old Tanner Hopkins, pulled up next to her andfired two shots without saying a word.
The victim, who was not hurtreported that Hopkins insisted she get an abortion and said he wasmad because she refused to do that.
Hopkins has been booked into theMontgomery County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault and weaponscharges, according to the Dayton police report.
