ENEWABLE BIOMASS
.—The term ‘re-

newable biomass’ means any of the following:

‘‘(A) Materials, pre-commercial thinnings,

or removed invasive species from National For-

est System land and public lands (as defined in
5
section 103 of the Federal Land Policy and
6
Management Act of 1976 (43 U.S.C. 1702)),
7
including those that are byproducts of preven-
8
tive treatments (such as trees, wood, brush,
9
thinnings, chips, and slash), that are removed
10
as part of a federally recognized timber sale, or
11
that are removed to reduce hazardous fuels, to
12
reduce or contain disease or insect infestation,
13
or to restore ecosystem health, and that are—
14
‘‘(i) not from components of the Na-
15
tional Wilderness Preservation System,
16
Wilderness Study Areas, Inventoried
17
Roadless Areas, old growth stands, late-
18
successional stands (except for dead, se-
19
verely damaged, or badly infested trees),
20
components of the National Landscape
21
Conservation System, National Monu-
