AP1520 Mesh Range Calculation Utility

For Cisco Aironet Systems
Cisco Aironet 1520 Series

1. Select proper sheet (at the bottom) for the 5Ghz backhaul radio or the 2.4GHz client access radio
2. Select devices being used for both sides of the link.
3. Select datarate being used
4. Select antenna used on each side . If using something other than Cisco/Aironet
antennas, enter the gain factor in dBi.
5. Enter antenna heights in meters for both sides
6. Enter the carrier frequency in GHz
7. Select transmit power levels for both sides of the link
8. Select cables being used on each side. If using something other than Aironet cable,
select other, then enter the loss/100 ft and the length of cable
9. Select one model that is best suited for your environmental conditions
10. REMEMBER These are THEORETICAL calculations.

This calculation utility has been edited to stay within limitations for TX power, and EIRP under the listed
regulatory domains. There may be cases where it exceeds the limitations, and it is the responsibility of the
installing parties to verify the installation is within the laws of the location in which it is being installed.
When using this utility, available power levels will changed based upon the regulatory domain, the antenna (or
antenna gain) selected, the modulation mode, which is based on the datarate selected (OFDM requires a
lower power level in some domains). Verify all parameters after making any parameter changes.
