Dear Parents and Swimmers,Welcome to the Northview Community Swim Team! We are glad you have joined us and we arelooking forward to another fun, successful swim season. Things you need to know as we getthings going this summer:Schedule changes are a fact of life with the Community Swim Team.
Please watch the bulletinboard , check the website (http://www.ncst-swim.org ), or check your emailfor schedule changes .For the safety of our children---Please accompany your daughter/son to the pool!
There may be rare occasions when practice is cancelled without warning (weather, pool shock,etc.). If this happens, signs will be posted at the door.
As a general rule, please do not dropyour kids off and drive away. We do not want anyone to be stranded
. The pool door must remain closed at all times. Besides the obvious safety concerns of an opendoor near a pool, this open door will throw the dehumidifying system out of whack. Please enterand exit the pool deck through the locker rooms.
COMMUNICATION:
There are four methods that we will use to communicate with you:* Coaches - Your child will have a coach that they work with most of the time. Please feel free toask their coach any questions you may have. Also, please keep your child informed as towhether or not they will be at the next swim meet. Their coaches will be asking them!* There is a file that sits just outside the pool door during every practice. Each family has a filefolder in the bin where you will find new information, various order forms, ribbons, etc.
Pleasecheck the file daily!
Also, if you do not find a file for you in the box, let us know, we will putone in!* The bulletin board by the pool door belongs to the Community Swim Team.
Please scan itdaily!
This is where you will find schedule changes, meet sign-ups, volunteer sign-ups, directionsto away meets, etc.* We also use e-mail and ourwebsite to communicate during the season. Please feel free to sendan email with any questions or concerns. Also, check the website for loads of information aboutour swim team and your swimmers.
MEET SIGN - UPS
– This is an area in which we need your help. It is impossible for the coachesto make an accurate line-up when they do not know who will and will not be at the swim meets.Coaches must be informed 48 hours
prior
to a swim meet if your child is unable to attend.
GIVE US A HAND! WE NEED PARENTS FOR TIMING, CONCESSIONS,SCOREKEEPING, DONATIONS, ETC AT HOME MEETS THISSUMMER.. LOOK FOR THE SIGN-UP SHEETS POSTED ON THEBULLETIN BOARD. PLEASE, DO YOUR PART TO MAKE THESEMEETS RUN QUICKLY AND SMOOTHLY. ABSOLUTELY NOEXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

A FEW LOGISTICS ABOUT OUR TEAM, LEAGUE, AND MEETS:WMSL
: Northview Community Swim Team is a member of the West Michigan Swim League(WMSL). WMSL is made up of approximately 25 member teams organized by size into 4divisions.
DUAL MEETS
: We compete against the other teams in our division by swimming in “Dual”meets. In these meets, we swim against 1 other team.
CONFERENCE MEETS
: At the end of each season the league hosts conference meets where allteams in all divisions compete at the same time. The conference meets are designed so that allswimmers can compete against others within their age group AND within their current relativeability level. They are fun! Make sure you try to make time for them. This is our chance to showrest of the league how good our swimmers have become! As the season progresses, a list of theA” qualifierswill be posted on the bulletin board. This information can also be found on hewebsite. As we get closer to the end of the season, you will be asked to sign-up as necessary.
“13-14” CONF MEET:All swimmers in the 13 & Up age group may swim in this end-of-season meet. There are no qualifying time standards required for this meet.ACONF MEET:All swimmers in age groups 12 & under may compete in this meet providedthey qualify by swimming faster than the “A” time standard in at least 1 eventduring a dual meet.“B” or “B/C” CONF MEET:All swimmers in age groups 12 & under may compete in this meet providedthey DO NOT SWIM FASTER THAN THE “A” time standard at any time duringthe dual meets. Some events are further split into “B” and “C” groups. Thesame applies here. Swimmers who achieve a “B” time or better in that eventmay not swim on the “C” events.
Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please talk to one of the board members orcoaches. We are a pretty informal bunch of volunteer parents. Much of the swim team businessis taken care of during practices as we wait for our kids. So we welcome input from anyone andhelp from everyone! You can catch us at any practice or feel free to call us at home.
See you at the pool!
